To be honest, I wanted to go back to PZMOE for a bit and the "news" was a nice scapegoat. That was the clan I was in since beta and every once in a while, I like to drop by for a rain check and hang out with some of the cool dudes in there. I don't really *have* to be in PZMOE, since we all share the same mumble, but being in the clan gives me access to the clan chat, which is nice since not everyone in the clan uses mumble during peak time.

I also wanted some private time with some respectable light tank players from the clan, to try and get over my plateau of 51.49% winrate. Unfortunately, despite observing them for many a match, I'm nearing 10k games and I'm still just as bad as I was six months ago, and I just can't seem to get any better at the game, which is really frustrating and discouraging.

This all, surprisingly, has nothing to do with Hellsau at all.

I've been playing a bit of World of Tanks Blitz and it's pretty good fun. The pubbies are actually worse than regular WoT as no one really has any control over their tanks and every game is 7v7 Encouters. The Hetzer is a beast in it.

I've managed to pull out of my nosedive my WR was on getting 60+% for a couple of days in a row. Got the upgraded gun on the Black Prince and I love the tank now, if you're top tier so many people can't work out how to pen you. It's brilliant.

My STA-1 was cursed too. I had a super high WIN8 in it and would regularly be top player on the team, yet my winrate ended up averaging around 43%. Type 61 broke that curse.

In my tier 9 IS-4, which you all remember was crazy, I ground it up using the BL-9 and the really soft stock turret and had a 60% win rate. After I unlocked the super turret and S-30, I lost 18 battles in a row, and roughly 22 from 25, at the end of the run I had a win rate of about 32% before I put the tank away for a couple months. Between it and the eventual IS-8 I managed to get the win rate back up to 50%.

My STA-1 with a newly fitted top turret and second gun is suffering from this problem, was 60%, currently 41%

Words cannot describe just how terrible Vietnamese are.
I dont understand, the tier 9 IS-4 when played aggressively was near idiot proof and impossible to dislodge from a defensive position.

There were so many times where I was able to 1v2 and come out on top.

My guess is you weren't able to draw enough fire away from you teammates when you were elited.

I finally got enough xp to ditch the birch gun, and got into the bishop. Holy poo poo it's awful. What kind of moron thought it was a good idea to have arty without gun elevation? If the ground is completely flat you've got fairly bad range. If the ground is sloping the slightest bit downwards you're stuck with noticeably shorter range than most tanks you go up against have sight. If the enemy is on higher elevation than you? Lol, gently caress you you can't get a shot up there.

In arty view you move the cursor over a red tank but the target line is completely grayed out as far as you can see at the furthest zoom and helplessly you see the tank line up the gun perfectly with the target line and then you die. I might as well suicidally and slowly charge the enemy base every game and maybe get off a single shot that will likely miss instead of playing it like a regular arty. My only hope is that the second gun is somehow better.
:negative:

But on the plus side I've managed to raise my win rate in both my tiger and my tiger2 by 1% each. :toot:

Now with less breakage.

The second gun is way better - it's got the same "gently caress you and your idea of cover"-arc the FV304 is famous for, and a rather decent fire rate/accuracy.

You don't want to platoon a -220 with an SU-85B, it invalidates the fixed MM. Nevermind, read it wrong and forgot the -85B is T4 and will only see up to a max of T6 like a fixed T5.

Also, for some reason I've a feeling that the WZ-111 will be the last call for a 'new' fixed MM tank. The M56 Scorpion is getting de-tiered to T7 and keeping the 90mm. I think that's what they're going to do from now on - subtract a tier from a tank that might otherwise get fixed MM, and ensure it at least has a *chance* against the maximum tier it'll face, which at T7 would be T9, and the 90mm M3 it'll get has 243mm gold pen and 160mm with AP.

I also wonder what would happen if they decided to re-release the Type 59...only with a 'variant' name (Type 59D, for instance, with non-functional but decorative reactive armor) that didn't get fixed MM, just to troll everyone.

Is-5 (is-8 proto) is on the way and is practically a stock is8. i hope they will remove the is-6 from the shop and replace it with the is-5, Its also the got the generic russian d-25t, wish it got normal mm and the bl-9.

Also the t-54 proto is also on the way. The t-54 proto might be a russian type 59. Its got basically the same armor hull armor layout of the t-54 with an up armored t44 turret. i imagine both tanks will have pref MM. its currently got 90mm sides (holy loving poo poo) but i imagine that will get nerfed.

Had a really solid game in my 215b yesterday. I side sidescraped and absorbed 3 WTF shots, 2 E5 shots and 2 4202 shots. Was it dumb luck? Sort of.

But that being said I am going to miss this tank when it goes the way of the dodo. It is a pretty trolly tank when it is not out in the open. Gun lays down the pain like nothing else and it has a fantastic HP pool. Did I mention the gun? It is really nice.

What am I not telling you is that the second I went out in the open for 10 seconds I got hit by an arty and a 183. Sky helpers, please don't help me out of the game so quick.

Faff about a bit and learn to play at each. Rushing too quickly will only bring frustration and tears. Skipping up should be reserved once you start down your second or third lines for the stinker tanks.

And if you make sure you get competent as you go up you won't turn out to be a detriment to your team! Not much worse than those wacky, frothing rage inducing, zero damage, jackhole pubbies at high tiers.

Once you get to like tier 5 (6 for some lines, I guess) you will pretty much only be playing tanks that actually have a fighting chance, provided you do your job, and you won't be feeling as powerless as you would have while playing some legit poo poo tier 3 and 4. Thing is, you have to understand what is the *quirk* of those tanks and use it to your advantage : don't bring a squishy hill fighter to a close range city fight, don't bring a low alpha sniper to a knife fight, don't drive a slow but tough heavy tank in the middle of a field and so on... Use that grind to learn how to play each tank to its best, how to use the terrain to your advantage, where you can kind of reliably expect to pen enemy tanks of you tier and above, what tanks should you kill quickly when they show up (protip : if you can get your team rid of a dangerous tank quickly, they are that much more likely to win. At least statistically)...

Also there's absolutely no shame in not immediately buying the tank you just unlocked and selling the current one, if there's a tank you enjoy playing, keep it, worst case scenario you're having fun while training your crew.

I think the mistake a lot of bad player make is rushing to tier 10 and wondering why they still can't play for poo poo. Tiers 1 and 2 are here so you learn simple stuff like how to drive and shoot tanks, 3 and 4 so you understand slightly more advanced stuff like gun depression and armor; 5, 6, 7 and 8 are here to basically be the advanced level class about hard to get stuff like armor angling, flanking tactics or camo/spotting mechanics. 9 and 10 are the endgame content where you have to constantly put to work what you learned before, and you WILL suffer if you get there too fast.
