Unfortunately, this can also be frustrating, when he's discussing a show you might want a more in depth look at, and instead he goes for the poop joke instead. Sage has done some really fantastic videos but sometimes it feels like he tries too hard to be edgy.

I like him but I sort of hate the whole running gag he has (had?) with Violence Jack. loving review it or don't. Although I have to give him massive credit for making GBS threads all over NGE because I watched that a few months ago and goddamn I couldn't agree with him harder about all of his points.

Sage has a pretty big consistency problem if you ask me. Sometimes he can be on the ball and really funny and other times his stuff is just kinda there. I think that might be because there are a lot of bad OVAs that are dull as poo poo as opposed to interestingly bad so you run into a problem with what the hell can you actually say about it?

He's one of those reviewers that tries too hard to be funny, but otherwise can be alright when not stuck to that. I can't watch more than 2 videos in a row with him without going "Oh, too edgy for me" or changing to that picture of that Sonic the Hedgehog robot with the "No Fun Allowed" sign. If we are adding folk like KimbleJustice, let's add Doctor Sparkle (Chrotendo) and Greg Sewart (Generation-16) to the roll as folk doing console specific anthology series that take ages to make a single episode, shall we? I like Sage's anime reviews since it's a nice look back on the 80s and early 2000 shows I've never seen before. Some reviews are hit or miss, but I always find myself chuckling at something. It's good that he at least explains his opinions and goes in depth about certain topics. He knows his stuff. The fact that the first two Fatal Fury movies being the best fighting game animes made me laugh a lot especially after the other fighting game shows he reviewed. I have a soft spot in my heart for Fatal Fury.

I'm not much into anime so I'm not especially familiar with Sage's reviews, but I did enjoy his video on the best Hot 100 number-one singles of all time. Hard to disagree with "Georgia On My Mind".

I'd love to see him do another show talking about music, because those videos talking about the best and worst chart leaders and the worst covers were fantastic. Guy really does know his stuff.

I can't believe I didn't pick up on how unhealthy the main character's relationship was. Made me literally cringe and instantly regret wasting all that time watching it. In my defense, I dropped it about halfway through. Bennett's appraisal of the series is pretty apt. The anime ended with no resolution. It was literally a "read the manga" ending. I can't imagine what it must have felt to anime only watchers who have never even heard of manga. Too perfect.

I'm not sure if this is 100%-related to Internet Critics, but some dude wrote a blog post about taking his seven year old daughter to a comics store. It's very depressing. http://www.itinthed.com/16328/what-taking-my-daughter-to-a-comic-book-store-taught-me/

The comic industry is pretty bad, yeah. I had the same realization at the first and only comic convention I went to. (I was nearby and decided to see a couple panels for TV or Youtube people, wasn't really worth it) There are certainly good comics, but they're hard to find and few and far between if you're not into the superhero stuff. I liked the Nodwick books once upon a time, and I've heard good things about Locke and Key (though I don't think that's kid friendly). I think webcomics are starting to be more of the scene. A lot of them are still in the "newspaper funnies" format, but there are a lot of plot-based higher quality ones. Though I can't think of any that are super kid friendly off the top of my head. I guess Dresden Codak isn't too objectionable, but it has some pretty dense philosophical references. I don't know much about Girl Genius, but apparently it's fairly popular among geeky tweens-teens, so maybe in a few years? (E: Though of course, there should be stuff for girls in the superhero genre too.) Linear Zoetrope fucked around with this message at 06:24 on Jan 15, 2015 |

e:^^hahahah Cucumber Quest is kid friendly and really good but let's not go too far into BSS territory. Webcomics are a huge sea but they're definitely more willing to take risks and try things than print comics, and things like patreon and kickstarter have been making it easier than ever for people to do proper print editions and for a select few even live off their comics. It's like the one part of comics that actually has any hope, really
