Lamb of God at Irving Plaza however many years ago was the first time I was in a wall of death (which is a shame since my history stems from local, really small NYHC shows). I got hit so loving hard in my ear that it started bleeding and I didn't even think that was possible. Ever since then, any time a band calls for a wall of death I just walk away. gently caress that. e: Listening to New American Gospel again is bringing back great memories. The breakdown at the end of In the Absence of the Sacred, and the whole song really, is so loving killer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53UZyE60V1Q ShoogaSlim fucked around with this message at 02:48 on Dec 30, 2014 |

If that was the Headbangers Ball tour at Irving Plaza with Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, God Forbid and KSE, I was at that too and it was one of the wildest shows I've ever seen. Brian Fair did a front flip into the crowd from the balcony and kicked me squarely in the forehead. I had a lump for a week.

The Last Ten Seconds of Life released a new album this week that's pretty solid and also heavy as all motherfuck. I'm not even sure the vocalist's human. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_lFyk3KkyQ (that art's abysmal though) Also 36 Crazyfists have released a couple new tracks that are great if you're in the mood for some ~2005 metalcore. Best stuff they've put out in close to a decade easily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLkm-Bpkgv4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LP9jzPVzJE4

It kind of reminds me of Six Feet Under. They had Chris Barnes as their vocalist who I enjoyed from Cannibal Corpse, but they just put out some really bland stuff. It's like they're playing scales with a death metal sound. I haven't listened to anything past the first album. edit: okay The Last Ten Seconds of Life is a little better than Six Feet Under was, doing a re-listen to the track I linked for the first time since high school. I think I still have a point.

Not to pile on, but I liked the first couple EPs or whatever from The Last Ten Seconds of Life and this new stuff, in addition to their last new tape, sounds kind of bland and toothless. Their old stuff was pretty generic deathcore but it was certainly in the mid to upper tier of the no-name Blogspot bands of the day. This is just... well like the last poster said, kind of like later Six Feet Under. It's just kind of dull and has lost its edge. It feels like the kind of tape that nobody would give a second glance if the band didn't already have a respected name. HOWEVER, here is another no-name Blogspot band who was mentioned in the thread already, but with a specific song that I think most people here will enjoy. I especially dig the wild variety of guest vocals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av-aljuzG2Y

That song is generally pretty terrible but it is actually kinda fun. The addition of all the guest vocalists allows it to transcend how awful it is and be more about a group of dudes obviously having fun with the sound. I could never listen to it alone just jamming out but if I was drunk and pregaming with some friends, or drunk at a show they happened to open or something then I could definitely vibe.

Six Feet Under was always one of those bands that I should have liked, but never did. Same opinion as other people in here - meh. I was pretty stoked when Rob Arnold joined them, because that dude wrote some amazingly bad rear end riffs for Chimaira and The Elite, but I guess he never got to put his mark on the one album he did with them because it was pretty bad and boring.

Sorry it isn't all breakdowns featuring 8 string guitars down tuned two steps. There's a time and place for those bands, but you have to stop bench pressing eventually. Something I really like about Enter Shikari is that they aren't just a hardcore band with a keyboard player that throws out a half-assed synth solo every now and then, but a band that uses elements from other genres, like drum and bass. Also, the new Fall Out Boy album is a fun time, haters be damaged, but this isn't the thread for that.
