Does somebody have a screen shot of the current goonslum?

It's also getting really crowded and 50% of the goons never leave the base, so I predict that it's only a matter of time before splinters begin forming. There's no fishing so I'm not worried. 20 goons also loaded up on riot gear tonight and cleared out every non-goon in town. It's amazing how goons will form orderly lines when they know we're going to give them each a gun to shoot pubbies.

Opti, Kiri, myself and one other went out and used Kiri as bait, found one big base, and killed 20-30 pubbies. That to me is the most fun this game can be, just wandering ruining pubbies.

This is me climbing the Goonbase using arrows. Shanks took the picture because he's very kind. You could take a bunch of arrows to a city and use them to climb a building and cover your fellow Goons.

Is there any option to securely save property/equipment while you are offline?

Another use for bows is using it similar to a tracer round, fire in the general direction of an enemy to point out pubbies to fellow Goons!

I took a couple shots of the goon slumtown fort, as it makes it's way towards Detroit-esque sprawl. You can see The Farm in the distance, and the variety of stuff built over, as well as the traps to feed ravenous goons. You can't even really see the extra additions in here, my bad.

8am, 3 more pubbies decide to raid the camp. The camp was successfully defended with only one loss out of a 2 man crew. 300+ rounds of .223 were scavenged from the lovely raiders and promptly used to shoot more holes into their corpses, everything else was scrapped.

Ended up buying it. I've been tooling around on a PvE server but am planning to move to Requiem in a day or so after getting used to the controls.

We picked that spot for the Goonslum because it is in a less trafficked area due to not being near any points of interest or too close to any spawns we know of. Now the Goonslum is a point of interest and attracts pubbies who want to "raid" it.

Is this better than DayZ? Because I would enjoy a DayZ game that is less terrible. Even if it's still terrible.

I kinda miss the goon shenanigans of Rust but im not crazy or rich enough to buy another goddamn alpha. Seeing Detroit in Rust go from a colonial fort to a sprawling mass of towers and alleyways was fun though, as was the Thunderdome.

Few extra things I figured out tonight: You can prone mid-air into water to become invincible. No one can melee or shoot you under water, cars probably can't run you over. This will be useful in some situations eventually if not fixed I'm sure.. You can logout next to player buildings(or any?) and immediately move/jump and move through the walls into them. Along with the goon posting arrow climbing, there is basically no way to secure a base/building atm really. You don't need to be shot to dupe, just logout and save, drop all your poo poo and kill process and you'll have it all.

water is probably hosed up for the long term at least tbh They haven't ever had water working in Forgelight engine properly, its always been wonky. Eventually it'll get fixed because of H1Z1 and especially because of Everquest Next. There just wasn't any real reason to fix it in Planetside 2.

Siljmonster posted:Its all holdover from SOE's games. They're aligning the codebase between EverquestNext and PlanetSide and now H1Z1. They have a really good engine actually, just lovely development. The Engine is bad. Turning settings down has a side effect of turning down the amount of work the GPU does and trying to have the CPU do it. The engine is already a CPU hog so lower settings may make your game run slower. Also dumb things like all shadows are on the CPU, not the GPU. They call it "ForgeLight", but it is still based on their lovely EQ2 engine which was all CPU based.

glug posted:So full loot permadeath with local area voice chat, and werkwerk leading pubbie execution squads? people are "scared" that it is pay2win because for $5 you can call down an airdrop which may or may not have weapons in it. However, even if you call in an airdrop, you may not get what is inside - at least in rust, airdrops were always hotly contested. There is argument that you just run to some area of the map where no one is and call in the airdrop so you get it for yourself. I'm sure Sony did testing with the airdrop, but did they test it out with people having to pay $5 to call one in? (additionally the servers were a mess for the first 2 days)

If I go to the middle of nowhere, spend $100 on airdrops, and get armed to the teeth, someone can still shoot me and take anything I'm carrying right?

glug posted:If I go to the middle of nowhere, spend $100 on airdrops, and get armed to the teeth, someone can still shoot me and take anything I'm carrying right? Yup. And this happens a lot because the kind of person who does that usually had no idea what they are doing and just goes sprinting around because "LOOK I GOT A GODDAMN AR15 NO ONE CAN TAKE ME" until someone a million times sneakier and savvier because they rough it all the time shoots them in the head with an arrow.

Yeah. So it's more like "pay to win at being a loot pinata" than winning at anything else.

glug posted:So full loot permadeath with local area voice chat, and werkwerk leading pubbie execution squads? if you are running around by yourself, the game is not a ton of fun if you are running around goondor on Mumble, going on pubbie execution runs and raiding bases then its a loving blast if I stopped playing H1Z1 today and never touched it again, I easily got my $20 out of it

like I picked up a shotgun & 40 shells from a guy in pleasant valley yesterday I sat in the building across from the police station and waited for someone to go in I waited a few seconds, went inside, crouched with bow ready I shot him in the back of the head while he was looking through those weapon lockers and he let out a feral scream calling me a human being I should really turn on shadowplay

Well I was trying to make my way to goonfort yesterday, but is there really no way to bind keys? I really don't want to change my mumble PTT key for one game, but then I also don't want to be talking on voice chat. Do most goons just disable prox chat?

With the current map it would be pretty hard to call in a airstrip unnoticed, the plane is visible/audible from a huge distance away. I've seen two drop and both had people fighting over the loot before I got there

I like to wait within sight of the drop location and then go after whoever wins the initial fight. If I had to guess I'd say it's rare for the person who calls in the drop to actually get it. Maybe 50/50 at best.

Minarchist posted:I'd love to play this but the rain nearly melted my video card The Forgelight engine is less janky than the the engine ARMA III uses but its unoptimized as gently caress and the funny thing is that by putting it on lower settings it is probably actually using your CPU/GPU less optimally than if it were on Ultra or something lmao So its got it over ARMA III and the Day Z Mod in the sense that the UI actually works and isn't a pile of rear end, but it can't really simulate water at all currently and the engine has some legitimately terrible quirks about settings also Mumble overlay has been broken for loving ever in forgelight

Lower settings puts more on the CPU while higher settings puts more on the GPU. Figure out which piece of hardware is better and balance accordingly.
