They all look like busted arseholes. FDJ really poo poo the bed on that design. OPQ is now the best kit. In a random bit of appropriateness, im gonna miss seeing the Ausnats because i need to take my cat to the vet coz she also has a busted arsehole.

Do other countries run their nationals the way the US does? Do they have lots of non-championship races before the they start racing for medals? Clearly Austin should have known what it was getting into but if the course wasn't quite as torn up maybe they could have run it today.

I find it hard to believe that Austin doesn't have a larger motocross track they could temporarily convert, rather than having to damage a State Park

I'm watching the Belgian National Championships and they're off their bikes more than on them because of the mud.

Heinrich Haussler (IAM) won the Australian road race championship. Caleb Ewan 2nd, made a nice move on the last climb about 10km out but Haussler hauled him in at the final sprint. I'm not sure what OGE's plans for him this year but I guess we might see him in a few classics to learn the ropes since he's still pretty young. (Gerrans was out injured after he buggered his shoulder before Xmas.) Porte the national TT champion.

Finally decided to look at the roster, and they have Theo Bos, Eddy Boss, and Farrar. Going to be some interesting slapfights there. Will MTNQ be in the classics or are those races world tour + french continental only?

MTN usually get a few invites in the calendar, Ciolek won the MSR a couple of years back during those insanely cold conditions. They also have Matty Goss and Daniel Teklehaymanot who is a pretty useful domestique.

Anyone remember the accident at the Tour of flanders with family who were stupid enough to be stood in the middle of a traffic island while the race split on either side of them and got hit by Johan Vansummeren? The wife is going to be paralysed for life and the husband is trying to get compensation off of the race organisers for not stopping them standing there. Ulissi has also been banned for 9 months, back dated to when he was first suspended. http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest-news/diego-ulissi-banned-nine-months-doping-152990 serious gaylord fucked around with this message at 13:57 on Jan 20, 2015 |

Why does he still get to keep the stage wins from the Giro last year? That's exactly when he was caught cheating. Is this common for doping bans?

Something to do with adrenal response? They're obviously pushing to lock it up in the standard medical quagmire of "nobody's ever really looked at it".

I could be talking out my arse though and its nothing to do with an Italian rider doing well at the Giro.

It was mainly an Aussie-fest. Rohan Dennis won it by 2s from Roomie (although Froome nearly caught him by winning the Old Willunga stage by 9s or something). Cuddles' last race is actually next weekend in his own one-day event (it basically covers Geelong, Torquay and his hometown Barwon Heads). It's a UCI 1.1 tour event, I think the idea is to establish it so it attracts one-day specialists and give teams another reason to hang around after the TDU. The Herald-Sun Tour's run February 4-8. Similar courses to last year. A prologue and four stages about 120-150km around Melbourne. Arthur's Seat is the last stage and is quite a steep hill. I think there's the Tours of Qatar and Oman later in the month.
