Behold, me circa 1991: So much neon. And yes, playing Nintendo. You can't see much of the fabulous decor, but let me assure you it was very Miami Vice. The entire apartment was done in tasteful shades of aqua, pink, white, and gold. I guess that's more 80s but that style lived long in Florida. We had an entire wall made of those tacky-rear end clear glass bricks.

When did the bowl cut go away? I had my hair cut in this style from 6th to 10th grade as did most of my friends. I was thinking about getting it done recently for fun. I wonder if people at work would think I just got a bad haircut or there is something wrong with me. It was a really sweet hairstyle

Bowl cuts were everywhere but generally came with the "mom/dad cut your hair" stigma. Not to mention making your head look like a penis and being nicknamed the "down syndrome cut". The 90s had some truly awful, goofy haircuts. The tube top, rat tails, having shapes and words shaved into your hair, leaving it long on one side of the part and shaving the other and then there was this thing that seemed to be second in popularity only to the bowl cut when it came to bad 90s hairstyles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74BlfIjXJ-o&t=390s It looked like a dead rat on your head. Leave 90s hairstyles in the 90s where they belong. The_Franz has a new favorite as of 08:45 on Jan 19, 2015 |

I remember having a rat tail at like, age 7 or something, because a few friends had one. I think my mom was relieved the day I asked her to cut it off.

Don't forget the scrawny dork's go-to look, the middle part. Bonus points if wearing one of those button down 'cut up a DBZ/Venom wall scroll and made a shirt out of it' shirts. Also, behold the bowl cut's best case scenario. Caveman Cat has a new favorite as of 10:34 on Jan 19, 2015 |

Ya know, I heard Republica probably as much as anyone else who breathed in that whole decade, but this was the first time I had seen the video. Is it a 90's thing for your video to give people seizures? Cause that shirt hurt to watch after a while.

I guess that woman sounds kind of like Shirley Manson but even if you hate Garbage, they were never that repetitive. As for the video, I think that throughout the 90s any kind of weird video editing was chic. If it was slick, it was cutting-edge; otherwise it was endearing in the way that Nickelodeon and Liquid TV went for. Case in point, any music video from Pop Will Eat Itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76wSk1j02_4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTKBq3bvMRU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNWu7Ejm_TM

So it's pretty well agreed upon that the 90's "culture"/mindset ended on 9/11, yeah? So when did it begin? I'm saying the fall of the Berlin Wall.

I say fall of the Soviet Union. It was definitely the start of the modern conspiracy theorist- without the Russians to be paranoid about, we turned inward. Also a year later a Democrat was elected and the post-Reagan populace just doesn't do well with that.
