Ok thanks for the recommendations.
Are there any other good vampire mods besides the blood potion ones, royal bloodlines and better vampires? Also should I disable spergs unarmed scaling with pickpocketing? I think one of the vampire mods already buffed it. Do the vampire attacks keep happening if I side with the vampires in dawnguard? Because jesus I want those to just gently caress off and stop killing all the merchants/NPCs.

The devil you say!

I tried Vampiric Thirst for a while it's not bad, it gives you a power to attempt to bite people rather than Better Vampires contextual interact button, and it had some nice ideas for powers in the style of Vampire: The Masquerade, but I generally felt BV was more polished.

One of the reasons I always forced myself to go through Dawnguard as early as possible was to stop vampire attacks, but then I found this mod and I never looked back!

Edit: Oh yeah, Unique Vampire Dens by Gonkish is nice, it adds a place in each major city where you can rest up, feed and sell poo poo. Another good one is Vampire Resting Places which adds a coffin to sleep in in every city's hall of the dead.

I think that I've now more or less got my next Skyrim install planned out. If anyone could cast their expert and gimlet eyes over the modlist below to tell me whether I'm going to accidentally end up with anime hair, breasted mudcrabs, outdated/unsupported/buggy mods or mod conflicts I'd very much appreciate it. Graphics wise I'm running with a GTX 780 on 1080p, so if (in your experience) I've set the graphical standard a bit high I'd appreciate any insight you can provide there as well.

Oh god, Draugr Overlords can used Marked for Death now. :gonk:

Speaking of Draugr, does the conclusion of Forbidden Legends ever actually work properly for anybody? I got problems with having to fight Sigdis twice, Sigdis not teleporting back to his spot after being defeated, long delays where nothing happens in between Gauldurson spawns, and at one point my followers tried to attack Gauldur, rendering the quest unbeatable. The next attempt I used Leader's Teleportation to keep all my followers in the back of the room, but Gauldur had to kill the Black Book fire wyrm (I killed Sigdis with Fire Breath) that rose from Sigdis' corpse before he could do his thing, because it attacked him. And of course I couldn't get a good view of the cinematic where Gauldur reforges the amulet because I was all the way on the other side of the room to keep them out of aggro radius.

If you turn any of the three sons into ash piles the quest script will not work. Its best to just kill them with melee so that the teleport back to the alter properly and that Gaulder banishes them.

Do any of these vampire mods make Vampirism more like the Vampire Bloodlines Masqurade game? Where in low blood = high chance to turn into a uncontrolled beast, high blood = strength etc, and you spend blood like mana?

Yes, better vampires can be configured to do something like this with what it calls reverse progression and blood points.

ASSHOLE.
Better Vampires is great. I've been having tons of fun just going around and being all vampirey.

I am having an issue with another mod though.

SPERG's always worked fine for me in the past, but I just grabbed the two-handed perk that's meant to give to 30% increased attack speed with greatswords and 15% increased attack speed with all other weapons, and it has instead slowed my attack speed to unusable levels. Is this a common bug? How do I fix this? Do I need to post my load order or something to give you guys a clue?

That is a great perk and to have it do the opposite of what it's meant to do is... disheartening, to say the least.

I don't understand the love for SPERG. I started Skyrim with it and it just felt gratuitous, both in the mechanics it added (like ghost animals and poo poo) and their strength (crazy 2H perks). Now I'm using ACE, but that feels uninspired. Is there some kind of middle ground?

Can I favorite entire armor sets? This would be useful for Frostfall when I'd like an outfit for the cold and one for combat. Sorry if I overlooked something obvious, but it's not the easiest thing to search for.

Does Dawn and JK's accomplish basically the same thing? Why did people combine them?

Uh okay. SPERG is kind of that middle ground? You either get huge sweeping perk overhauls that aren't compatible with anything else without huge effort/patches, or you get something like ACE. Perky is another one you can try.

I'm pretty sure that More Hotkeys Please lets you bind entire sets to a single hotkey, but there might have been some bugs where an item's enchantments sometimes wouldn't apply if they were equipped this way.

I just figured out that many mods collide with the ''Fighting the Thalmor!'' series (Adal Matar, South Dragonbridge, etc...) and that disabling those made my game infinitely more stable.

I really like ETAC (Extended Towns) but it`s too intensive in some cases for my GPU. I'd recommend it to anyone who has more power than a 5870 and an old i7 930 2.8.

Raven Castle is also superb if you like huge as ball house mods (still under development) using static assets. From a RP perspective, you could likely do a TON of things in there. It has its own worldspace and the modder knows it is huge and has a ton of doodads so he split the castle in (so far) over 60 cells. Lots of door loading screens but I think it`s worth an exploration, at least.

I probably went Mach 2, crossed half of Falkreath hold in a few seconds and then launched off a slope and died when I landed. Keywords are a work in progress. Which is to say not done at all in that version. I think I've come up with a full solution to them. That version doesn't have crossbows since adding a dummy crossbow would have made it dependent on dawnguard but I think I can script that instead. Staves aren't in and I have no idea if they will make it in. I'll have to look at them mechanically to see what's up.

A CTD at the menu almost always means a plugin has a missing master. Check that all of patchus's masters are present and active. The BSA errors aren't a problem.

Signature Spells seems unlikely since there are lots of things going on there but armor is vaguely planned. A big technical issue was resolved in the most recent SKSE I think so it could happen. Of course skyrim armor is a lot more varied than fallout so that is its own can of worms.

Should've specified that this is one of the odd things about my problem: all the masters check out. MO doesn't throw up any flags for missing masters, and I've disabled and enabled a few to test the functionality and it works properly.

Edit: Speaking of masters, I DID use the "mark your whole load order as a master" setting in SUM. Could that be contributing?

STEP Says to use Bashed Patch first, but because Wrye Bash isn't as powerful as its past iterations, it needs help from TES5Edit Merged Patch. However, the latter's leveled items merging might not be the best, so delete that portion.

There's also an effort to make a TES5Edit script that does what Oblivion's based patches did: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2068934-mator-smash-a-tes5edit-script-by-matortheeternal-beta-testing/

It's still basically alpha though. The author calls it a beta but also says it's not suitable for anything but testing at this phase.

Fixed my issue: turns out setting everything as a master can cause Patchus Maximus to generate an evil ESP. Odd, since it worked perfectly for me on my last install. But whatever! At least I can use the menu.

Now I get to see if the drat thing will actually load. :unsmigghh:

Then it's time to start adding more mods. :getin:

Should I be worried that in the intro the carriage is flying everywhere or just ignore it and continue playing?

I knew it wouldn't let me play just yet. :allears: Some wicked rainbow polygons started tearing out of the landscape as the title ran (and the loving Morskom Estate intro, which I finally deleted :argh:) but settled after a bit. Once I went into character creation, though, they came back for a brief moment before blacking out my visuals.

That's a feature. Alternatively, get Skyrim: Unbound or Alternate Start: Live Another Life and start your game naked in a ditch.

It won't finish in my experience, just continue flying and the intro sequence will never finish. Reload and try again, it will work sometimes.

Or use alternate start. The intro is heavily scripted and mods tends to break it.

Do you think this is funny?
If you've never played the game before, I think it's worth loading with no mods and going through the whole intro sequence just to get a feel for the major plot points it sets up and how vanilla Skyrim plays.

Then use an alternate start mod and never have to sit through that tedious stuff again.
