Both of them.

I prefer the OAV, including the hand-drawn mechanical animation and the fact that it's totally 1980s.

The 2000's Area 88 is mostly okay apart from the lovely CGI which was bad even at the time.

I've read what english releases the area 88 comic got and always thought it was cool, and also was going to start Shiraboko at some point also.

They could have just looped the fire in the OP and nobody would notice or care, but they didn't. That's how dedicated they were to that OVA.

It's good.

Wasn't that episode more on Wright brothers style discovery instead of outright plane flying?

Tokyo Ghoul's setting is atrocious, there's like nothing having stopped the ghouls from straight up conquering the world years ago.

The premise that originally sold me was that it was a psychological newly-turned vampire story filled with disgusting imagery and sex metaphors. Which then turned into a battle shonen focused around the usual cycle of violence story.

That was about as far as I got into the manga and based on that never bothered with the anime.

Didn't the manga hint that the death of the ghoul and him receiving her organs was actually part of some kind of plan?

yes. it was the plan of the evil doctor man who was working with the ghouls. the MC was the first experiment

Well to say what exactly is wrong with it would involve spoiling it (Fuuka, the title character, gets hit by a truck and dies about 30 chapters in, after having already built up a relationship with the MC) but Seo's well known for pointless melodrama, the densest Harem MCs known to mankind, and cheap twists to draw out the manga. A town where you live (aka RageTown), his second most recent series, is so well known for it that it's really quite a read. His works are actually quite entertaining if you don't get too invested in the story/enjoy schadenfreude.

Ouch, that is unnecessary. :ohdear: What the hell?

That's pleasant. I've been thinking about watching it ever since it came out, and have always read varying reports on how creepy it is or isn't. I'd rather not watch a skeevy underage fanservice kind of show. At this rate I'll probably never see it, though, I always put it off or never get around to it. There just aren't enough really good magical girl shows.
