Generaly speaking a mortis with dual kheres is a tad bit overcosted, but not by much. It's a great support unit.

Just finished an 1850 point 3-way free for all with me on Necrons, Stanyer89 on Knights/Blood Angels, and his brother on Tau. The Doomsday Ark and Doom Scythe are pretty loving good, S10 templates own. I also fielded a fresh unit of 6 Wraiths which basically tabled the Tau player by themselves. The Knights ended up killing my HQs and my big block of warriors but ended up dying to mass Gauss fire and S10 templates.

As a 4th ed Grey Knights player where the only viable list involved 2-3 Land Raiders, they were the thing of nightmares.
A squad of 20 warriors will still strip one in a single rapid-fire volley, which is scary as hell if you run a lot of armour. If IG are popular in your area, then it's to be expected they aren't thrilled about facing 'crons.

My brother just posted some photos of our recent battle on the Frontline Gaming mat I got him for Christmas. I was Orks, he was Marines. Of note is the last picture, right before I rotated my Orky Vengeance Battery and shot his Chapter Master POINT. BLANK. IN. THE. FACE. It was pretty fantastic.

quote:

I've been working on a few new things, mostly terrain. I got a Frontline gaming cityscape mat (which is awesome, highly recommend!) and it's gotten me motivated to touch up my terrain for a nicer looking board. I've been touching up some of the old ugly building ruins, adding washes, highlights, and details, but I also started working on some new pieces. I made an Ork vengeance weapon battery that can also be used as a small bunker in some games, and a nice Ork base. Have a few more Ork themed terrain pieces to work on and will post pictures of those soon!

In the mean time, here are some battle shots from a recent game- Ork shooty themed list v. Space Marine manpower themed list. Pretty much lots of dakka vs lots of bodies. The mission was a made up one- Orks deploy down the center of the board and SM deploy within 6" of either/ both long table edges. Objectives were kill points plus entering the Ork deployment zone (for SM) or repelling all SMs from the deployment zone (for Orks). Mission turned out to be a lot of fun and fairly balanced as it was a very close game! Orks won by one VP.

The board

More Assault Marines about to be murdered...

Dakkajet with its little Deffkopta escort

Command squad stands proudly (commander was killed next turn by the Vengeance Battery Battle Cannon turning and firing point blank onto him)

I like assembling and converting models more than almost anything else about the hobby and the Ghost Ark just about made me give up in frustration. It's just an incredibly tedious and yet still complex project with very poor instructions. And then you have to paint the drat thing, which is arguably even worse. It looks really cool and it's a great unit, but it's easily the most obnoxious plastic kit GW has ever produced.
