Is it viable to just switch to playing as a mage (from an assassin) on hard mode new game plus or do stats matter enough that it would gently caress me over in the long run?

I really wish Dragon's Dogma had a different saving system. It sucks when you accidentally miss out on a quest or do something wrong because the game doesn't give you a chance to fix it. Cyclops are so cute. I actually feel kind of bad about killing them.

I've never heard of a console game being IP blocked. The f2p Ace Combat wasn't for example.

year199X posted:I was specifically referring to the PC version, but I do recall one of my friends having issues with connecting with the Vita version of PSO2. To reiterate on this and PSO2 in general, Sega have done nothing about people editing the filesystem of their online only game for two years, nor have they done anything about people injecting DLLs for item translation (item names are stored server-side) and RSA key retrieval. They got DDOSed and their response was to do absolutely retarded poo poo with their IP routes and effectively block everyone outside of Japan. Except they can't even do that right and it tends to cycle around (Comcast worked at one point and now doesn't, Telstra didn't work before and now does). So a guy who was working on a private server changed gears and made a proxy specifically for the game. If you want to play the Vita version now you either have to be able to access the game in general or use a VPN on your PC, then use that PC to make a bridged wireless connection for your Vita to connect to. I love the game a lot, but fuckin' hell. So yeah, I don't know if that's actually the example of what you want Capcom to strive for, but..

I just watched that insane video of a mystic knight reflecting everything back at Daimon, and now I want to make one. Unfortunately, I've grown quite accustomed to having a ton of rift crystals to throw around willy nilly, and I'm looking to make at least a few hundred thousand. Is it possible to hire your own pawn on the Xbox 360 if you make your new character on the cloud? I tried searching by my Gamertag and by mages of the appropriate level, but I came up empty. Most of the advice for hiring your own pawn online seems to be for the PS3, so I'm afraid that it will not work for the Xbox. Has anyone solved this problem? In the case that it does not work for Xbox 360, would anyone like to take my baby mage pawn for a walk? She is level 8 and mostly useless. Relevant information: Gamertag - Paleologus Pawn name - Theodora

Let's share some Dragon's Dogma stories! I started a new playthrough a couple of days ago and after a while the game decided to remind me of how utterly terrible its save system is. So I decide to take Ser Berne and escort him to the Shadow Fort because I want his bigass sword. He is usually a good fighter, so I want to risk it and take him through the shortcut, killing the Ogres along the way. I save before every fight, of course. During the second fight, things get hectic because its in such tight quarters and my pawns are running around casting magic and I shoot my arrows and everything is a haze. But I look at the minimap in order to make sure Ser Berne - the little white dot - is still alive. Finally, the beast falls! I run over to the little white dot on the minimap and find Ser Berne's lifeless body. Apparently the game needs a minute to realize he's dead, since eventually the quest fail message appears. Alright, I think, just reload my manual save - I do that but instead of loading from before the Ogre fight, I reload a safe from just after the Ogre died and Ser Berne is dead. Obviously, killing the Ogre triggered me completing a mission and saved the game, overwriting my manual safe instead of the checkpoint safe. The checkpoint safe was still from when I rested at an Inn an hour ago. Is there a game with a worse save system?

So you took a risky decision and instead of being able to save scum out of any repercussions, you are punished for poor decisions. Sounds like the save system works well to me. In other news, anyone know what's up with the dragon from neverending story in the magazine pictures?

sicDaniel posted:Let's share some Dragon's Dogma stories! Once in BBI 2.0 my own pawn and a buddy's lvl. 200 sorc had been scythed before heading into Tower of Treasons Repaid (the long, vertical room with the poison river right before the room with Vanilla Ice), leaving me, a Magick Archer, and another friend's fresh alt Strider pawn who was tagging along soaking up RC and enemy knowledge. As you might know, the Tower is filled with skeleton brutes and succubi to harass you through the entire descent but more importantly: this is the other place a Metal Golem spawns in the game, and you absolutely NEED to have some kind of ranged, physical weapon in order to break the medallions and do any sort of damage to the golem. The pawn, being a baby, is only useful for screaming despair and being lasered to death and will not shoot a goddamned thing. I can't reach half of the medallions with my sweet Framae Blades. So, 15 minutes of desperate jumping and hiding later, I get the idea to use dragonspit to break the medallions and. by god, IT WORKS. Or it would've worked if this wasn't the very first time I ever used dragonspit and I hadn't missed a bunch, leaving just ONE LAST medallion safe and snug near a pile of rocks. So, while the golem is busy sodomizing my only friend, I make a mad dash behind him to grab an explosive barrel and I very-gingerly nudge it into position and start praying. Then I shoot it with an explosive rivet, damaging that loving medallion to right around half health. I make for another barrel but I get stomped on and my precious barrel becomes dust. I grab literally the last barrel and run for my life. I make it, place it with the delicacy of a mother laying her swaddled newborn down to sleep, and shoot the poo poo out of it, finally shattering the medallion and ending the golem's life. I don't remember what happened after that except I was laughing in real life and we just barely pulled our asses out of the fire. Luckily the next room has a rift stone very early on, but I'll be damned if I didn't think it was The End.

The quality of a save system does not depend on your weird video game honour code. If I wanted to be punished for stupid decisions I'd play Dark Souls! mirarant: Why don't you let your pawns open the chest? Most of the mimic chests are static, iirc. Also pressing help messes up their inclinations, according to everybody (I don't really know how that system works).

I think my favorite DD things are fighting the Arc Hydra for like half an hour, finally dying and not even being mad because it was so fun and tense, and doing BBI, trying to kill the Cursed Dragon but I just can't so I decide to book it instead. I spot a chest on the way out of the room, greed overcomes me and..yep, mimick. And my pawns were too busy getting tenderized by the dragon to save me.

This game is the best when you're in a fight (or, earlier on, out on an expedition) and you're getting your rear end kicked and you're thinking "I'm going to die here, why the gently caress wouldn't this be where I die" but you miraculously pull through and you have zero potions left and all your pawns are dead.

I fought a Lich who kept summoning hellhounds on BBC, and I had just picked up a few new Magick Archer abilities. I noticed that he'd descend to the floor to summon hellhounds, so I fired a load of explosive arrows at him in between killing them. When he descended to the floor to summon more hellhounds I popped him with Blink Strike, detonating all the arrows and killing him instantly. That was probably my favourite moment in the game.
