We've talked a lot in this thread about coercion of confessions. It's really scary to realize that 70% of people could be coerced into believing they had done something that, in reality, never occurred. It just sort of reaffirms that most of us aren't in prison not because we've never committed a crime but because the police have never been convinced we have committed a crime and gone after us. But when so many people are convicted despite their innocence, it's real unnerving.

quote:Oh wow, not saying that link wasn't comprehensive but I definitely don't have time to weed through that to find one statement about eating a cheeseburger or not. It does seem like the family has changed their story a ton of times which makes them sound super duper non-credible. I am deeply curious if the grandmother actually suctioned her because that, done improperly, could have been exactly what started her bleeding post-op and eventually killed her. Weren't they saying the grandmother was a RN and it turned out she wasn't at all? And apparently they're saying that the hospital gave them a suction device so they could do it themselves? In PACU... Which makes zero sense because no one in ANY facility would hand over equipment to the family ever, let alone after surgery involving the head and neck. It sounds like they started her hemorrhaging when they suctioned her and now are fighting desperately to cover up their stupid mistakes. There's a lot of speculation that they are waiting for her to deteriorate so that an autopsy can't be used against them. Considering the slimeball lawyer they have, that isn't too far-fetched. The hospital can't talk unless the family gives permission, and they aren't about to do so. In the meantime, thr body continues to decompose in New Jersey.

It's kind of the mediocre brother of Little Dieter Needs to Fly but it's still a relatively enjoyable film to watch. Not Wikipedia, but http://murderpedia.org/female.I/i/isa-maria.htm or http://murderpedia.org/male.I/i/isa-zein.htm Their daughter was a normal teen going to school in Missouri, however "After learning that Palestina had taken a part-time job without her parents' permission, and dated a non-Muslim African American man, her father felt she had become too Westernized. On the day of her murder, Zein repeatedly stabbed his daughter Tina, while her mother Maria held her down." And coincidently the audio was caught on tape, her father Zein, was part of the Abu Nidal Organization which had been planning a bombing of the Isrellai Embassy in Washington, DC so the FBI had bugged their house. Which led to the arrest of both of them. The father tried to say the murder was in self defense because she had "shammed her family and needed to restore honor". The murderpedia article has a transcript,.. the only Wikipedia article i found that mentioned it was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_killing_in_the_United_States Just unnerving that to someone that MURDER is their response to a sixteen year old liking different stuff than your parents. Which is pretty much what every teen does anyways.

Long story but she eventually ran away from home (Houston) to be with me during my first two years at college (Austin) due to her parents disapproving of our relationship. When that happened her parents would threaten, stalk and send people to follow us everywhere. She was old enough that the police couldn't do anything but that didn't stop them. We eventually separated for other reasons but looking back now we were pretty lucky neither of us were physically harmed or worse. Thanks to Facebook I learned she's now married to who (I assume) isn't muslim so I hope the family learned to accept and adopt the culture here.

Content. I'm hoping these haven't been posted yet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarrare http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Domery Tarrare and Charles Domery are perhaps the most well-known sufferers of polyphagia in human medical history, or at least the most well-known people to suffer from it as an isolated medical condition. They had quite-literally insatiable appetites throughout their lives, beginning at very young ages and supposedly lasting until their deaths. They could (and did) eat or drink just about anything, regardless of whether or not it was actually food. Both men were contemporaries of each other, with Tarrare being born in 1772 and Domery being born a few years later. Both men also spent time serving in their respective country's military. Polyphagia of this degree is not well understood in the medical world hardly at all; Tarrare and Charles Domery are apparently the only widely known cases of the condition. However, only Tarrare received any kind of documented autopsy following his death. Charles Domery seems to have fallen off the map sometime in the early 19th century, as there are no solid historical records about his life after that time. I. M. A girl of Turkish descent raised in London gets into a relationship with someone the family didn't approve of, the father and uncles drug her, kill her, chop her up and bury her in the garden. Couple of days later they dig the remains up and (presumably) burned them - at any rate they were never found. Their story was that she'd travelled to Turkey to join a Communist revolutionary group, and with no body it was difficult to bring a murder charge. But the mother eventually testified against them and now they're locked up. Pretty drat miserable set of events. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/6835301/Honour-killing-why-did-police-send-girl-home-to-die-by-her-violent-father.html
