I remember a year or two after my parents got our first computer, a Packard-Bell Windows 95 (I think it still runs but with my grandfather right now) and Kelloggs was running one of those send in box tops and get a thing deal. One of those deals was this thing and spent many hours looking up poo poo... also first dose of sex ed... thanks Explorapedia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1mXuGd0I_s There is also a nature one and a kind of related on that had to do with the underwater stuff. This is the nature one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKRYwDxB-YA Oh and another game that I remember coming with the Packard Bell was Lil Howie's Playhouse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2w1_8oLXnU But by far the most played game on the computer was NASCAR Racing 2. Always get psyched with the intro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b-U-JXnJk0w

Toward the end of the Beanie Baby craze, about once a month there'd be an ad in the Sunday paper for one of the local hotels hosting a WE BUY BEANIE BABIES! event. My wife had a handful of the fairly sought-after ones that she bought for the original retail price so we figured we'd unload them for a small profit or at least to get a few bucks for something she didn't want anymore. There was a family behind us in line that had a tote filled with a bunch of them. By then, the value of the things was nowhere near what they were about a year prior (I had a co-worker whose wife wanted the Princess Di one so bad he paid like $350 for it). You can probably imagine the reaction of these people when they were told their collection was worth a fraction of what they paid for it. 0 to super pissed in about a second and a half.

I got that every month and was obsessed. I gave all my cards to Goodwill last year, but I'm not sure how much I can write off. Probably very little.

Yeah I went through all my old football cards recently and they're all worthless. Beckett did rule though. There was always this one card that stuck out cause it was worth so much - a Derrick Thomas card where they mistakenly put the Bills logo on the bottom.

We were all fooled with stories of our dad's Micky mantle cards getting thrown away because grandma thought they were worthless. When magic Johnson announced he had HIV it was thought he would die soon so my mom encouraged me to buy some of his more valuable cards at the time. Who knew he would still be alive 20+ years later.

The worst thing is this is actual fact in my family. My (great)aunt lived down the street from him, there's pics of my mom and her sister with various yankees in front of Mantle's house. Signed. 50's. Baseball cards. All in Fresh Kills landfill. To actually contribute: http://textfiles.com/anarchy/JOLLYROGER/ Jolly Roger's loving Cookbook. I found in a resale shop recently this book: Covert Culture Sourcebook 2.0 http://www.amazon.com/Covert-Cultur...ert+Culture+2.0 A 21-year-old book on underground/indie/emerging tech, art, culture, 'zines, music, 1994-era websites, etc.. I flipped to a page, found a chapter called "Japanimation", video recommendations for movies/CDs I'd never heard of and I realized I must possess this. I'll maybe try to shuffle through it in the next few days but all in all, it seems like a rather nice time capsule from just flipping to a few pages.
