This, pretty much. 100% expecting WFX to win tomorrow, CLG just came to play.

Winter Fox is kind of good & all of their players seem good but they can't really aspire to be much better than a good 2nd tier team & if your team is going to worlds you shouldn't drop games to them, especially with the new no super week format.

I'm too lazy to look up the actual numbers. Keith was 15/2/23 across 2 games. Piglet is 3/5/7 across 3. Altec earned more fantasy points for this loss than Piglet did for his win.

mistaya posted:(Kobe during the hour long Grav/Dignitas game was the best single casting in the LCS so far this split.) Kobe is pretty much straight up the best Riot caster right now, given the loss of Deman and Joe. Every NA game should be cast by him and Jatt, even though I actually like Phreak. Jatt can complain about how the teams are bad and Kobe can be excited about everything. Phreak can analyze and Riv can interview.

I wish Riot casters were allowed to dump on bad games like Monte sometimes does. That's pretty much all I ask.

There's a huge difference between playing well and playing in a way that gets you fantasy points, though. Gambit played two miserable games this week, but because they were both really LONG miserable games with lots of sloppy back and forth kills, their members posted between 50 and 75 points for the week.

I've finally gotten time to watch the WFX/CLG game and I have to ask, is CLG actually getting better like I think they are, or is WFX playing like garbage this game? A fifteen minute ace is nothing to scoff at and CLG absolutely dominated the lane phase, but it seems to be more of a matter of WFX being really sloppy. I guess they are still down a player though.

Not playing Flame is weird because I'd say hes in the best 5 top laners world, and has been for... forever basically.

Why exactly isn't League popular in Japan? Or any esports for that matter, now that I think about I've never heard of a major Japanese esports team winning anything. Edit: Oh apparently they don't even have League servers in Japan, they have to all play on NA apparently. The gently caress is that, how is this anime as gently caress game not popular enough to justify being in Japan? Lightning Knight fucked around with this message at 13:30 on Feb 8, 2015 |

I heard (from a Japanese dude) that it's a cultural thing. Being about as secluded, xenophobic and culturally homogenous as South Korea, they're not really open to outside influences. First of all they think gaming is for children, imagine Western society's thoughts of gaming around 1995. Competitive gaming of any sort is a completely alien concept. And nobody really plays computer games anyway, PC gaming in Japan is (Japanese) MMOs and dating sims, nothing else really.

Surely competitive gaming isn't that much of a foreign concept, doesn't Japan have a strong presence in the fighting game scene?

AdjectiveNoun posted:Surely competitive gaming isn't that much of a foreign concept, doesn't Japan have a strong presence in the fighting game scene? I'm not an expert, but maybe they do That would make sense since fighting games are basically a Japanese invention. On a cultural level taking gaming "seriously" is very much frowned upon though, maybe that's what I was trying to paraphrase.

Semi-related to this, they also have, or at least had, a really strong pro magic the gathering scene. There were several at the last world championships.
