o.t. but if NZ manage to win the cricket world cup that'll mean John Key will get another shot at a three-way handshake with a sportsball captain

sportsball huh what a funny and cool aloof original joke besides you missed it already, they got the awkward john key stuff out of the way at the opening ceremony. Those anti-domestic-violence radio ads are tremendously stupid. "Don't beat ya wife if the allblacks lose!" people hearing that ad fall into two categories: 1. People who aren't colossal psychopaths who beat their spouse over sports bullshit. 2. Colossal psychopaths who don't give a poo poo about radio ads telling them not to beat their spouse over sports bullshit.

In the 2 years leading up to my parents getting divorced, my father used to beat the poo poo out of my mum for any old reason - bad day at work, the train was crowded, he vaguely remembers mum saying something 10 years ago that he's decided he didn't like, mum's Japanese so stuff that Japan did to Koreans back when the Koreas were a Japanese colony, it was rainy, it was sunny, it was cloudy, there was a bit of a breeze, he loving felt like it. Yeah, with the current deregulative atmosphere of the business sector and slashing of employee protections, employers tend to have all the means and manners to construct an enormously exploitative environment.

Even if I can get a job in the next month, the end of financial year will be in any 90 day trial period which is kind of depressing. It's kind of telling that most of the accounting vacancies right now are in BAS, I may not have a job but almost anything is better than still being in BAS.

Even for the BAS, you're looking at 400+ accountants applying for a position. Add to that that if you're a recent-ish graduate, at least half of them will have about 4-5+ years of experience over you. It's times like this I'm thankful for the strict gun laws we have here. Suicides would be through the roof if they were relaxed.

Yea, I have three years of BAS behind me I've come to the conclusion "gently caress BAS". Trying to start in commercial from the bottom all over again, now hopefully it's my turn to gently caress over some new graduates. BAS is just a race to the bottom where the only people who win are the people that either own the building or have their names on it. There's very few commercial openings at the moment and yea, a lot of them are being swamped by BAS accountants who want out just like me. How NZ universities are allowed to keep making GBS threads out thousands of BCom accountants a year is beyond me.

I have a mate I've known since we started highschool, he's been in the army a few years now. He's a borderline aspergers manchild who joined because he wanted a job that would also take care of his every minor need for him like a big green mum. Now he seems to be more self-sufficient and more capable of social interaction with humans, and he's reasonably well off financially. I'd say on the whole it's done him some good, even if he could (theoretically) gone to uni instead and made use of his autistic-yet-powerful brain. I doubt he ever would've made it through uni; he'd probably be working at a supermarket right now if he hadn't joined. The very concept of him killing someone on purpose with a gun makes me giggle.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the domestic violence stats go up after a sportsball game regardless of whether the team win or lose? Seems more likely to be related to alcohol than sporting wins/losses also buttwizard before you get mad again I dont even know if there's an internet joke about the word sportsball, I heard it and thought it was funny. I've spent most of the day watching India v Pakistan so Im not pretending to be aloof in any way

It's mostly just goonery, but it would also be nice if the people we hire to shoot and capture for torture foreign nationals at the behest of our golfing partners were in it as a job rather than because they weren't enough of a sociopath to go into politics.

No, I'm just agreeing with a vague sentiment at the beginning of the military bashing that a portion of military recruits, regardless of how numerically large or small it may factually be in the New Zealand army, are there because they want to kill and harm people; and, I don't think they should be given the opportunity to do so. Most of the recruits I would guess are just regular people doing their job and defending the country/securing the world.
