Why the gently caress can't Cortana control the OS at all? I'm on a Surface Pro 3 without a mouse and I find myself wanting to use voice control constantly. What I get instead are Bing searches for "run notepad" "bluetooth settings" and "type hello dot jpeg". I'm never going to use Cortana as a PDA, joke repository, and least of all a Bing search machine. I have no idea why OS control wasn't the first priority, even on 3% market share cell phone Also the soft key numpad is telephone style and not numpad style. Whoever designed this UX was a loving idiot

If you ask the right command like "open word" youll get the title of the thread as a response. Everything else is a bing search which sucks for now. Another improvement: the sticky keys hack has been patched in the pxe! In windows 10 pxe, all of the repair tools require account credentials to be run. No longer are the days of using the pxe for rampant access to a machine (unless you load up windows 8 recovery media via CD or USB in which case it works just like before).

The only issue I had related to games was that my ASUS Xonar DG sound card drivers wouldn't install properly and I had issues with the card causing Fallout 3 and New Vegas to crash and loop audio until I rebooted. However, I downloaded custom drivers for the card and haven't had any issues since. Can you link to said audio drivers? I have the same card, play New Vegas, and want to try the Technical Preview.

In Halo, Cortana was an AI modeled after a clone of a 60+ year old female doctor, not a teenager.

If you have any more questions let me know, if I can help, I will. Please note, these are custom drivers and while I use them and have no issues, I am not responsible if you don't like them or they cause issues.

What kind of an install footprint does W10 have at the moment? I have 7 installed on a 120 GB SSD, and it's taking up roughly half the drive between the OS and assorted users/documents directories. It's tax time and Newegg's got SSDs on deep discount, so I'm trying to decide between a 240 GB or a 480, with an eye to upgrading the OS when W10 comes out.

This is probably a retarded question: if I install the 10 tech preview, will it overwrite my 8.1 OS install, or do I need to allow extra room for my new OS? Asking this because my SSD that my OS is on is pretty much maxed out. I'm not sure what in the world I could transfer to my HDD that would help it :/m3monster posted:I can, sorry I didn't see this sooner. No problem, thanks for the link and advice. Is the preview's password field more responsive upon unlocking? About half the time I go to log in, it misses the first character I type because the lock screen is still sliding up.

Nope, it's just as (non-)responsive as 8.1 as of build 9926.

You can set it to have a PIN instead. When I start my computer, I hit a key on the keyboard and then type my PIN. Then it loads into my desktop.

The CAD bit is just because the machine has a domain login. It was behaving properly in the last build, so I assume it's either a new bug or just this build uses an older version of the code than the last one did.
