Been using the CODE Tenkeyless for the better part of the past week and I'll probably be keeping it forever. MX Clears are the perfect weight for me, and I didn't experience any serious finger fatigue playing CS:GO. My only complain is that some of the keycaps seem...loose? The bigger keys like Backspace and Shift can be rocked left and right and emit a little clicking sound, probably from contact with the stablizer. Has anyone experienced/been able to fix this? Would definitely recommend this keyboard over the Das 4.

I mentioned a few pages back my girlfriend bought herself a mech board for the box I frankensteined for her. She picked MX greens in a ducky rather than clears in a code. She hasn't used it much but doesn't mind the greens (maybe lack of experience makes it less noticable. I love em but after 2 wrist surgery's which caused me to switch from domes to MX blues initially, I find that though I LOVE typing and gaming on the board my hand cramps/hurts. But that's mostly my fault for being a drunk 18 year old, running to catch a bus cross town when I coulda walked, and being in my mid-late 20s with carpal tunnel already. Can't use tablets and only use 1hand on my phone :/. I'm still thinkin of getting a board with clears but ill holdout till a filco or Leopold is offered. I don't like flashy boards and 99% of the matter is after owning a gen1 rosewill 9000k ill never really on something without a proper PCB mounted cord.

Thanks all for a very informative thread. After picking up a switch tester I think I'm ready to bite the bullet and pick up a mechanical with Reds. I just spotted this on Mass Drop: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/varmilo-mechanical-keyboard Anyone have any experience with this brand? They seem to be a partner brand or something from the people who build the Leopold boards, which I hear are pretty solid. Anyone know if they make a bluetooth version of the VA87M? Having some trouble finding out where exactly these can be purchased from other than MD. Are there many options for bluetooth/wireless TKL with the features and overall svelte appearance of the Varmilo?

I mean design wise the raised keys makes cleaning easier and it's 10keyless, but beyond that?

I can't decide between blue or brown switches for a work keyboard. I have Reds at home for gaming, and I like it, but I want something more typing focused. I feel like blues might be a bit loud for an office setting. Brown activation force is closer to the reds than a blue would be, yes?

Interesting info, but it doesn't get me any closer to a decision. There's an argument for each type. Blues have that click and are hard to double-tap with, Reds are what I'm used to, and Browns feel like blues but won't annoy everyone around me.

Blues are going to have a hard time double tapping because of that extra force/click mechanism. My Reds do occasionally, but I knew that when I went with them. I bottom out so much playing games that anything tactile would have been a nightmare.

My work keyboard is clears and its drat good. My board at home is browns and they feel too weak after typing on the clears all day. I've asked all my coworkers and no one minds the noise anymore than any other keyboard.

My $1.50 eBay orings arrived and I've started to install them on my blues. I'm pretty sure this keyboard is going to be quiet enough to bring to work now that the keys don't bottom out when I type. Although I think the best sound of the keyboard is the sound of the keys bottoming out!

I'm thinking of getting a new keyboard maybe, I don't have a nice full-size board atm and my desk situation will be changing in a way that would benefit from one. This one is at the top end of my budget but seems to have everything I want, mx browns, decent wrist rest, red backlight, usb and audio passthroughs. ^ I was deciding between that one and the Corsair K70 for my first ever mechanical.. Went with the Corsair with browns and I don't regret it. Got a separate wrist wrest tho cause those attachable ones suck.

I looked at the k70 but it's out of my budget, I know if I talked myself into getting it I would be too short of a leap from my dream purchase and also horrible idea, the razer black widow chroma, to stop myself from doing it.

My infinity keyboard showed up today. Some assembly required: I got mine with matias tactile ALPS clone switches because I was debating using the complicated white ALPS switches from one of my old omnikey ultras (the bad one), but I kind of like the matias switches so I think I'm going to use them and I can always change my mind later (the PCB also works with Cherry switches). Post assembly it will look like this:  The plate is bent around the top and bottom and is the whole case (so the sides and bottom are open). I ordered it in October so I think this is the longest purchase to receiving a product I've ever had. Massdrop is cool but this was a crazy drop. My spacebar appears to be the right size, but I'm probably going to replace a lot of the keycaps with doubleshots from a NeXT keyboard. I'm not sure I'll have everything for every key since a lot of the modifiers and bottom row will be wrong, but I have the SP blanks for those if needed or if I just want to be cool minimalist dude about it.  It's funny that they seem to have forgotten to ship everyone a USB cable. Well, funny for me, I'm sure they're unhappy about having to ship out a bunch more stuff.

Any opinions on or user experiences with high-end ergonomic keyboards like the Matias Ergo Pro? I've currently got a Cherry keyboard which I use at work, and while I like it, it has always been difficult for me to get fully comfortable with a standard keyboard layout. I spend most of my time in front of a keyboard these days so if the whole divided and independently adjustable keyboard thing is more than an expensive gimmick, I'm willing to seriously consider it.

After months of deliberation I finally bought a mech keyboard, ended up choosing the new Cougar 600k because it was impossible for me to get the g710 MX Blue for a non-insane price, and I never quite gelled with the k70 when researching it all (mech + dedicated media keys severely limits the available models). This guy right here:  The 700k looked like a better option with the full backlight and macro keys but I don't like the split spacebar and more importantly the left windows key on that model was swapped with an Fn key, as I'm on a mac I use the windows key all the time for shortcuts so I opted for the lesser model. I won't miss the backlight, the only time I ever noticed it on my old keyboard was when I turned off the lights when leaving the room. The only minor niggle with the presentation is the few keys that are backlit (wasd + arrows) have different color lettering on them to allow the light to pass through making them stand out even when the light isn't on. Still adjusting to the way of typing, the larger keys like backspace, enter and even the spacebar feel a little rattly compared to the letter and number keys but that might just be a side effect of having the switch in the middle or a large key, this is my first real experience with a mechanical so it might be par for the course. Still works fine, and is gratifyingly clicky, but will take some time to fully adjust. Might spend a few hours in typing of the dead to familiarise myself.

Huh, that Cougar looks like it borrows a lot of aesthetics from the G710+. Similar slopes on the sides, and even the fonts look similar. I can't think of many uses for that adjustable repeat rate though.

It's a gaming kb so maybe repeated potion use in diablo or something? I don't really get it either, I'm leaving it set to 1x for the time being. The cynical side of me thinks it might have been shoehorned in so they could use the same plastic bezel on both models, the 700k has macro keys for changing the backlight scene in the spots where those repeat keys are.

I switch between an Apple Extended II and a Microsoft Natural and really like the Natural for comfort and the AEII for the switches. I'm hoping the Ergo is the best of both worlds. I'll be sure to report here with my impressions.

Ergodox user reporting in - the benefit of a split keyboard is more noticeable the more you actually care about ergonomics. The average person who just wants to type away without a care about posture would probably find it a a hassle.

 This is the third one I've made; my first was the only full-hand, and I hated it. It's tented to ~20 degrees. Yeah, it's hard to find finished ergodoxes (-doxen?) — your best bet is geekhack classifieds or r/mechmarket, especially around a massdrop sale of the kit. Even then, you're looking at like a $300 bill and a 2-month lead time. Hence it being a hassle for people just casually interested in the thing. However, it's pretty fun to put together, and I already had the other necessary equipment already from previous electronics projects. That said, the ergodox is incredible for gaming! It runs off a Teensy microcontroller, so literally everything about the keyboard is reprogrammable and macroable. If you want to program the "F" key on key layer 38 to type in obscenities or act as a mouse, that's all 100% possible with the source files. I think the only way to make an Ergodox even cooler would be to put a trackpoint somewhere in the right hand half and use two of those thumb buttons for left and right click. I'm sure someone could make it work, but that person is not me.

Definitely want mechanical switches on any keyboard I buy, which seems to drastically narrow options for divided keyboards. Guess I'll wait until initial reviews of the Ergo Pro come in and then probably order it anyway and end up wishing I had done it sooner.

About that space bar...  Welp! It looks a bit weird with the different profiles from the keycap set from the buy and the keycaps from the NeXT keyboard. Too bad SP doesn't make a lot of ALPS stuff anymore. I'm glad I got it I just hope it'll be more useful soon, when I have a spacebar and not an extra shift key there.
