Isn't one of the signs of an Arisen that they are the only ones that can call and control pawns? Seems pretty easy to prove whose legitimate.

Although I guess you could get a gang together and have one guy pretend to be an arisen and his gang pretend to be pawns but for what, arisens dont get anything but hard poo poo to do and theres a giant dragon out there waiting to kill them.

The old witch in the woods and the Dragonforged are both Arisen, so was Daimon and the guy who sells you stuff on Bitterblack Isle- which is itself tainted by some kind of evil magic which summons Arisen to it to die. The vibe I got was that Daimon was absorbing their power so he could grow strong enough to kill God or something but it's been a while since I played and I might have just inferred that. Arisen aren't a dime a dozen but they're definitely not a "one at a time" thing either.

The Duke was as well. I dont recall if the old witch beat her dragon but she was able to pass along something to her pawn like what you do at the end of the game to your own pawn. Clearly many epople that had been Arisen are alive during the game but they hint that there's a reason the Duke doesn't let Pawns near him. My impression is that after they confront the dragon (or finally decide not to) the next arisen cycle starts.

Sofia and Selene are really hard to fit in the timeline for the fact that the Dragonforged is a thousand years old and in all that time nobody has killed Grigori, yet somehow Selene has Sofia's heart and not aged in a millennia.

I'm still putting along in what I think is early game. I just escorted Mercedes to a fort in the woods, and along the way, ran into a goddamn mini dragon.

My crew got completely wrecked. Wasn't even a close fight. It's very refreshing to play a game where you can get stomped like this and have no choice but to run away and hope for the best.

You're about 20-25% through the game, there are 7 "stages" to the game and Mercedes escort is about the end of stage 2 when it pops up. Also if you're just doing the quests you find in Gran Soren, you are going to miss a lot of stuff. Take a trip down to the witch's forest in the south(close to the big bandit castle) and go talk to Selene, she can get you some really nice potions for early game.

Look At This!!! WOW!
It's F*cking Nothing.
Seven minutes of Phantasy Star Online Monster Hunter Online Dragon’s Dogma Online footage. Terrible video quality though, not sure why they would record the thing on a poo poo phone or whatever.

Some key points:

quote:

Up to 100 players can join a lobby.

It’s possible to match between servers, as well as warping to a friend’s server.

Quest board requests change every day.

There are various types of quests, including simple requests that players can challenge solo.

Players will receive “Main Quests” to advance the story at special locations. The main story begins when players are tasked with solving the mystery of why the White Dragon was turned to stone.

You can jump while in the lobby.

There are communication elements like motions and set phrases. Some of the set phrases are voiced.

The map is three times the size of the first game.

Fields include the forest, lake, mines, and more.

In the video, the player’s party consists of a Fighter, Shield Soldier, Priest, and Hunter.

Orcs become an important enemy players will find themselves fighting many times during the story. Orcs themselves have many variations, with their lowest ranks appearing in the gameplay video.

The Orcs have a stronghold, which players invade as part of the story.

I'm trying to get back into Dark Arisen postgame after not playing for a year which is pretty hard. My plan seems to have been to stay in the everfall and grind the easy wakestones (considering I've already got 30) for cash; is this a solid plan/worthwhile use of my time or should I just finish the drat game, move to NG+ and go do the bonus dungeon?

I will be so sad if there's no western release of this. Because it's multiplayer they will have to let you put items on a hotbar and use them in real time, which was two of the things I thought dragon's dogma really needed (being able to use items instantly at any time, and having to stop everything to go into a menu to use them, is not good).

But since it has "online" in the title I guess there's already a good 100 very likely ways for them to ruin everything. Hope it turns out.

Killing the Offline Ur Dragon drops 20 wakestones a kill and takes about 8 minutes to do. It'd be more effiecent to beat the game, get back to Gran Soren and buy as many periapts as you can afford(unless Fournival isnt in jail right now). Switching the game to offline mode however will make it so if your pawns die you wont be able to recruit them again till you switch back to online mode.

You should complete the game and then go do BBI and if you really need money/wakestones you can farm the offline ur-dragon for 20 stones per run from the special new game+ stone in Cassardis.

gently caress, this game sometimes. I just fought an ogre on a bridge in BBI. It took forever, it tossed one of my pawns off, and I died twice. Then, finally, on its last lifebar the ogre decides to be spiteful and jumps off the goddamn bridge! I was so salty about potential lost rewards after that drawn-out battle I just jumped in after him and retried.

Now I'm paranoid that they have introduced suicide routines to the AI to deprive you of your hard-fought rewards. That ogre just jumped off so naturally! I only needed one more good round on its head, and let go to recover stamina. The ogre took a look at me, then seemed to reconsider, turned around and charged right off of the gap in the railing!

Ogres run away when they know they're losing. And the AI has lovely pathing when ledges are involved. I remember barely surviving by last minute jumping off a cyclops in the dark cavern/valley thing in the base game when the bastard walked off the ledge. Thank you double jump.

I rode the first Orge you fight in the Everfall right off the edge of the walkway to the bottom of the chamber, survived because I was on top of him and then collected the loot and the xp for killing him whilst bypassing most of the dungeon. That was probably the best next-gen feels I ever had in a game once I realised what had happened

I only got so far as the first sewer level, right before the Beholder boss, at around the same level as you because between the mimics (which scared the poo poo out of me the first time too!) and the Elder Ogres and everyone splashing around soaking their lanterns, I just couldn't even pretend to be equal to the challenge anymore.

Came back at 100+ and wiped the place but still, goddamn.

Ogres are more than happy to use their bullrush ability once you start setting them on fire, which means that the chances of them flying over an edge becomes quite high. Hell, I think this is my usual way of dispatching them early on in the game.

Level 40 is perfectly fine for BBI, so long as the player remembers to buff their attack power with periapts. On my first playthrough of Dragon's Dogma, I got started on Bitterblack Isle at a much lower level than 40.
