I bet Faker actually picked those because they're strong AF in gimmick 1v1 FB/First turret lanes.

New Diamond interview talks about getting Leviathan as a coach some stuff about the jungle Diamond's KDA and kill participation have been huge in the last 7 games, around 80%. Great to see him on form. Really highlights what a loss Leviathan was for Elements.

1. Shen's damage, aside from maybe the first few pre-6 levels does not even come close to Jax's. 2. In season 3 worlds Jax pretty much wiped Shen from the meta because Shen couldn't do squat to Jax. And then Shen got nerfed and TP got buffed so pretty much every top laner could have a global. Goodbye Shen. I'm not sure which was worse, you and Renekton top lane every match or Shyvana and Mundo top lane every match.

Shen at least made teleport plays occasionally I guess. But now we've got teleport so every toplaner can be Shen except also have an actual ultimate

It's kind of crazy to me that Shen has been completely erased from the meta but people still play Mundo all the time. They have virtually identical full HP tank builds, both totally anemic damage outputs, both really struggle in early laning but have fairly powerful late game presences. I'm kind of surprised we don't see Shen as an answer to Zed because with all the HP/armor he picks up, he could seemingly stonewall a Zed split push. I'm sure there's something I'm missing. I'm a huge Shen fan so I probably have a blind spot for it. I know he has enormous disadvantages, but other popular champions have huge weaknesses as well.

Mundo's cleavers do like..25% current health damage right? That's damage that Shen can only dream of when he's building full tank. I actually wrote a bunch of stuff about why Shen isn't played but I think what it comes down to is that Shen doesn't bring more to the table than the current meta + TP and Shen isn't that fun to play so we don't have players clamoring to get Shen in the mix for scrims. Except maybe Diamond and his jungle Shen.

I'm pretty sure that between the % dmg on cleavers, the aoe dmg on his W and the substantial flat AD from his E, Mundo will generally do more dmg with a full tank build that Shen will. Shen probably needs a triforce to match him which delays his tank build considerably.

Shens biggest advantages are all more tank related I guess. Taunt, Shield, + Heal on hit. He can force people to attack him where as Mundo has to be a nuisance. I guess on a competitive team I'd probably prefer having a Mundo in the end.

# ? Mar 2, 2015 18:53 |

The Taunt got nerfed pretty hard over successive patches too. Also Mundo's heal makes him super annoying to get rid of, even with Morellos being common. A neat survey that looks at how fans changed between S4 and S5. Dig really tanked when it came to fan support, but I guess that's to be expected. Interesting seeing that TSM went down, and many of the fans flipped to CLG or TL.

Most of that graph is predictable enough, but the thing I don't really get is why Team Liquid got the largest clump of ex-LMQ fans. I can't really think of anything those teams have in common.

Liquid got a lot of fans from TSM because a lot of TSM fans rooted for them solely because of Xpecial Also CLG got more fans because we went from the end of a season to the start of a new one.

Zed can actually do a surprising amount to Shen if he's itemised for it, and Shen can't really respond because Thornmail ain't doing poo poo to Zed's spells, and Zed has such an easy time dodging taunt. He won't get 100-0 but he probably can get forced out. It's even worse if Zed is being offset by an AP top and he hasn't been able to itemise vs AP. Major Shen weaknesses: NO MR PER LEVEL - he gets poo poo on by poke AP champions, particularly ones with sustain. Vlad kicks his rear end. Does well in long trades and against autoattackers when the game is going burstier and more spell-oriented Taunt is not easy to hit and difficult to work around with ult If Shen misses taunt he auto-loses trades Ult CD is like 3 minutes at lvl 1 so is functionally not a ton better than TP, and doesn't help with laning at all Everyone takes TP Shen is better than people here seem to think in early game trades though. You can bully lvl 1-3 with Shen top very hard if you q spam and proc your passive on nerds. First blood with Shen is not that hard to get.

Wouldn't Shen be able to apply pressure around the map if he ran Double TP (effectively). It would mean that the other team would have to worry much more about engaging team fights if Shen's somewhere, because he can teleport for the first one, and if a second one begins he jumps in again while the other toplaner has to trundle (heh) down to the fight.

That's Cinderhulk. Bami's Cinder is a new item that builds into both Cinderhulk and Sunfire Cape. The problem is that Bami's Cinder does absolutely poo poo for damage to minions, so I don't see it being good for splitpushing until you can upgrade it.

Is anyone watching LPL? If you're not, you should be, at least for EDG. They look completely and totally dominant. To rerun what happened to that team: They were regionally the best team in China last season, although they didn't perform particularly well at worlds. Then in the off-season they got 1. Pawn and 2. Deft. Pawn has been incredible, and for my money is still the best midlaner in the world. In addition, the roster changes seem to have really energized the rest of the team. Their jungler, Clearlove, is playing much more aggressively and their toplaner Kuro is killing it. I think they could be a legitimate contender for the best team in the world right now along with GE.
