Canada's "tuner" culture is really bad. Ontario or Quebec is the absolute worst. No maintenance/halfassed garbage, dumb stance people, and guys with too much money (at the time of purchase, anyway) and not enough sense. I can't speak for Western Canada (their cars seem to be in much better shape) but never, ever in your life buy any sports car from Ontario without a meticulous inspection, correct paperwork, and concrete evidence it wasn't driven in the Southern Ontario/Quebec Salt bath.

TL;DR: Run, don't walk away from any RHD Import located in Eastern Canada.

Buying rustbuckets from Quebec and then selling them in Alberta is basically >50% of the entire retail used car industry in Alberta.

Dude. I had settled on getting a new Focus hatchback with a 5-speed but this is seriously giving me a Gollum moment fighting with myself. One of you needs to buy it and keep it away from me so I can quit going nuts trying to tell me a Focus would be better... which it is, but goddrat look at this classy piece of poo poo. Someone please buy it and keep it away from me.

My former gearhead friends still insist that you can legally import GT-Rs via the old "import as parts, re-assemble here" trick.

When I mention all the siezures of peoples' cars who have tried, I get smugly told "Well they just weren't smart about it like I would be. :smug::smug:"

This is exactly what a local guy did. Then he put the vin tag from a 240 in it. He was later arrested for street racing and well, you can guess what happened to the car.

The bullshit is strong in this one http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/4897296722.html

quote:

I have a rare Subaru SVX LSI sports coupe, leather, sunroof, 270 hp, 33mpg on the hwy, decent bfg tires, needs valve job on 1 side, h6 3.3l motor, many new parts over $1800 in new parts, I have another low mileage 3.3l motor to put in it or you can use it as a spare & get the 2 valves fixed, I have over $5k in car. I don't have the time to fix it plus I cant really use a 2 door.
I will take $2000.00 cash you get it running or $2600.00 Cash I get it running or trade "boom sticks & related work to, or milling machine

These were designed by Lamborghini for Subaru, there were 18k made between 92-97,This was Subaru's attempt to fit in with BMW & Mercedes Benz in the luxury sports coupe, the 3.3l h6 motor is used in many subaru motor swaps & vw vanagon re power swaps.
there are 6 models of this car: 2wd SVX-L, SVX-LSI, & SVX-T "factory turbo'ed" AWD: SVX-L, SVX-LSI, & SVX-T..with the LSI as being the fancy model.
these can be easily converted to a manual trans using a legacy 5spd, these can be turbo'ed, chipped + etc.
The awd can be disabled by installing a fuse, our a toggle switch installed to select awd /2wd for fuel economy.
It has on the shifter what is called a manual button, you use this so you can wrachet shift it, this car can haul b*tt.
New timing belt kit including water pump, new computer, egr, spark & fuel sensors, new relays, etc..come to find out all the parts weren't needed, come to find out 2 bad valves on 1 passenger side.
I do still have all the good parts that were removed & replaced for the wrong reason.

Apparently being 20 years old adds 40 horsepower and 8 MPG. And Subaru made a super-secret turbocharged version that nobody has ever seen. Not to mention that Lamborghini bit. One Italian company is the same as any other, right?

Also, the only model that was 2wd was the L trim, and even then only 94-95. Basically this person made an effortpost with a dozen mistakes that could be remedied with five minutes of googling or looking on cars101. Sure, the MPG and HP are probably made up to get a sucker to buy it, but there's really no point in the other made up poo poo.

He also forgot the LSL trim, which was basically the same as LSI, but on different model years.

The only reason I'm not including turboed and chipped on the bullshit list is that people have done it. But it's a dozen times harder than a civic, involves custom fabrication, and with a 10:1 CR, if you gently caress up the tune you're going to blow the engine with pre-det.
