I'm not sure if I like the Super Best Friendscast. There's four people and one of them is really obnoxious, but he's also speaking the majority of the time. It's neat because it kinda reminds me of staying up late chatting with friends about video games, but then it also reminds me of why I'm glad that part of my life is over.

I like it for this reason, it's hard to find a good podcast that doesn't consist of industry-types talking from an industry perspective.

The Level is by far my favorite gaming podcast for that reason. It's still just people sitting around talking, but it's well produced and slightly more focused.

The only thing is... Holy gently caress you all (David especially) need to go to Toastmasters or something and get the phrase "y'know" beaten out of your vocabularies.

Agreed, love The Level.

For a more specific game podcast, Kerbal Podcast is quite good, and the after the credits part, where they discuss things like movies and the like, is great.

I'll totally cop to our filler words. It's a delicate balance between "this is a loose conversation" and eliminating the most egregious verbal tics. It's a slow battle to continuously get a little better each time.

On a related note, we've announced our new WOFF! backer poll, for Spring Survival Horror. The choices are Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly, Resident Evil 4, or Silent Hill 3. Any of you who are backers can participate. https://www.patreon.com/creation?hid=1814184&rf=84454

Liam is like a Forums Poster in real life, he always seems so smug and self-satisfied. Also, the motherfucker spent sixty hours playing Criminal Girls.

Pat is loud and obnoxious but he's not grating, and Matt is just super excited about everything.

I started counting how often David said yknow during his grind section and gave up around 30. It was particularly bad this week.

(But yeah it's still the best podcast for general gaming talk, and in general I think David's verbal tics are just part of the charm.)

Obvious stuff I know I need to do, so tell me if I missed anything offhand:

I'd like to request adding Gaming History 101. It's Retronaughts gone casual. It's live and they take a topic of gaming history and discuss it, but different from Retronaughts in that I feel they've covered more odd topics (VHS consoles for example), and the chat in the live show will sometimes contribute. Their YouTube page is different from the podcast and largely hosts the occasional let's play and reviewing of games. Included for good measure.

I like both, they have different takes on things.

I'll even do the work on getting links. The Alt Site has articles if you're interested, but for just the podcasts allgames and the podcast site would do.

In the latest episode Kole said that the Level has very little in the way of procedure or order, but the show doesn't come off like that. Just by organizing and ordering parts of the show, the Level has a great pacing.

Part way through Thumbs 200, and I am spending the entire time empathizing with Chris. My brother got a few of his friends together to play D&D and had me join them on a webcam. The entire experience was watching them play a game while wanting to chime in, but every time I did everything came to a grinding halt.

Definitely happy that Chris was part of the milestone regardless of the technical limitations of long-distance recording. Skype Chris is better than no Chris.

My favorite weird thing in Link's Awakening is that you could rob the shop, you were basically encouraged to do so because the bow cost like 999 rupees, and if you did you were punished for the rest of the game by having your name changed to THIEF (not to mention the next time you set foot in the shop the merchant would fry you with lightning bolts).

It's like something from Ultima 4 or an art game or something.

I felt real sorry for Chris and barely heard Breckon after his initial hilarious ranting, but overall the sixer delivered. It was also good to hear Steve's perspectives on Bioshock 2 - I wasn't all that keen on the overall game but the gathering sections were a lot of fun, and delivered FPS tower defence far better than Sanctum's subsequent efforts.

edit: PS also the new intro music was dope!

I got stuck on a puzzle in the second dungeon for so long, I not only ground out the 980 rupees needed to buy the bow but I also bought it and had filled my wallet back up before I got un-stuck :negative: It was the Bottle Grotto puzzle where you have to kill three enemies in a certain order, it does give you a hint but you need to know the enemies' names and in my defense I had no idea what they were (lost manual)

Remember that in this game, enemies only ever drop single rupees

The manual doesn't actually name any of the enemies in the game either! I think they expected you to know them from previous games in the series, which isn't a big help when it's the first game in the series you're playing.
