Here in Atlanta, the day started in the mid 20s, but it quickly warmed up and eventually got up over 70. The weather was glorious today.

After I took the kids back to my ex's house, I went to dinner with my girlfriend at a Mediterranean place. Afterward, we went for a nice, long walk through her neighborhood and sat on the trunk of her car and talked for a couple of hours.

I was jokingly talking about deleting something and I said "baleeted", which is how I found out she loved Homestar Runner too, way back when. We bonded over Strongbad emails, as weird as that sounds. She just gets more awesome the more I hang out with her :3:

I don't know why, but Google Music - only on Android - has gone full retard. It's only showing about 1/3 of my music collection, even after reinstalling, and making sure the "block explicit content" box was unchecked. It'll only show the full collection if I search by artist, and go into "view all songs". Can't find them if I search by song name, full albums are missing until I view all songs (which means I can't play a single album)

Just wiped the phone hoping that will fix it (been having issues with this ROM anyway). Android 5.0 has been a huge letdown so far though, even stock 5.0 has been buggy as hell. Especially with A2DP streaming (skips/stutters often). If this doesn't do it, back to KitKat.

e: didn't fix it. I have no idea what the gently caress is happening with it, but at least I can just use Plex to stream from my home PC.

The only speakers/drivers that are actually 'omni' directional will be ones doing 100hz or under. Above that, frequencies conform to transmission patterns so point tweeters and mids at your earholes as much as possible.

You can do some cool stuff with a deep cycle marine battery, a Lepai amp and a pair of full range 6x9s though...

Okay, I was just wondering if the speakers you see with an inverted cone over them to "spread the sound" worked or were just pretty bullshit. And a deep cycle marine battery sounds like it'll cut into the beer capacity :v:

Is this what improving a beater rather than running it into the ground feels like? It feels good. :shobon:

All you're doing with a cone configuration like that is bouncing the sound from the point of source and directing it somewhere else instead. When you go home or get in the car later turn the sound up and then put your hand in front of the tweeter and marvel at how the high end noticeably drops off in loundness. Unless there's been a breakthrough in physics recently I imagine all these speakers are doing is just directing the majority of the sound sideways rather than forward.

Placement of speakers is important for clarity of sound but if you're drinking booze then I doubt it's quite that important otherwise you wouldn't be building it into a box for carrying beer. ;)

Just make sure the tweeters are pointed at earholes and you'll be good to go, certainly leagues ahead of those crappy little bluetooth pieces of poo poo people have become fond of.

As for battery:beer ratio man that's on you. You can get away with quite small batteries as those Lepai amps are pretty low power, just don't crank the sound up too much but again, this is more for background tunes than banging rave type poo poo I'd imagine.

I am having a BALL
I think i am doing this boss thing wrong. i interviewed 5 guys for a tech position, i kinda hired four of them. would have hired the last one if he had showed up on time. We are so far behind on maintenance and repairs that i am adding a second shift. We are already way over cap for the day shift and have had techs working outside in the rain. I also made a separate perfomance goal for my parts dude, he is a tech that i have more or less forced into a parts/writer position. i am testing out a performance bonus system, where you work towards a bonus equal to a weeks pay per month if you have 85% of your work day working an actual workorder. this includes if you punch in on a work order saying "shop cleaning" and "tool maintenance" or "admin". Basicly, it means that if they actually keep up with their paperwork they get a 25% increase. The problem for my parts guy is that he does not really work orders, and if he was to punch in on every order he prepared and ordered parts for he would spend half his time doing that. I also gave my apprentices the chance to work saturdays swapping tires. giving them a flat rate per axle. They tested this system this saturday and seem to have netted about 3x their normal hourly, they also swapped more tires per manhour then any of my techs had seen done. Good work boys :)

I then finished my day early and is now hanging out on the hospital waiting to get nuked. Turns out EVs get free parking at the hospital, and at 3,5$ an hour and 3x treatment a week that is actually going to make a significant difference. Can´t wait to pick up my treehuggermobile tomorrow

Electricians at work were doing some work that was going to knock out the Internet for a few minutes. Up to an hour and 15 minutes so far. They won't let us connect to the wired network so sitting here playing with my phone and eating pistachios. Not a bad way to start the week.

Classic insurance company has asked for me to explain all losses and violations in the past 5 years, is that even piddling poo poo like fix it tickets?

Anyone have security cameras or a surveillance system set up for their homes? Lately been thinking about setting something up for the garage and driveway. Also need to look into fire suppression for the garage.

You could buy one of these:

and snip the ends off the RCA plugs, strip back the cable a bit and insert some resistors/l-pad inline and then into the little amp. Or you could solder one up from scratch if you feel like you need to have 'quality' cable. I enjoy making stuff like that myself, takes a few minutes and you know the quality of the connections/cable a bit better.

Check the ohm rating of your headphones vs that of your amp. Amps like the one pictured run 4-8ohm and headphones can be anything from 16-600+ so you'd need to solder in some resistors/l-pad of varying ratings.
