Trying to get Leatherworking to an appreciable level has straight up taken two days of killing cows and begging a max level skinning knife off a maxed out player, will require a fair amount of time, about 80k councils, tannins notwithstanding, and a high level of favor. All in order to gain modest skinning and tanning skill. Then the real leatherworking begins, which requires high surveying and geology to make anything worthwhile. But all that said it's a good goal to strive for, because most people aren't Seems like our only option is to funnel mats towards a few crafters. What do you need for your Leatherworking?

I couldn't even tell you at this point, I'm on vacation without any access to a pc. I do know I've progressed past the point of leather I need for what I can craft (rough) so other than rough animal skins and large amounts of money there's n9thinh I could ask for; though I guess if you have either of those or Shoddy skins and nothing to do with them I'll take them off your hands.

Is anyone planning a Crypt run anytime soon? I'd like to get my hands on a spider potion + belt for an alt, and maybe learn necromancy on my main just to try it out. Mraaj is currently a level 26 Pig + 20 Animal Handling / 14 Mentalism / 18 Psychology so I think (hope) I wouldn't be dead weight along the way. Yeah, I haven't really settled on one secondary yet. That said I'm a lot more interested in the potion and belt than I am in making my main a necromancer, so if y'all go on a run when I'm not online I'd be happy to cover item cost + tip if someone could bring me those. I assume cost is about the same as other potions and belts, anyone know?

What belt are you referring to specifically? The rest, when I get back home, should be fairly doable; whether you're dead weight or not.

I think he's referring to the spider gear belt sold by the strange spider http://projectgorgon.com/wiki/Strange_Spider Also, I would tag along for a crypt run. I'm getting bored of just running it up to the bosses and stopping, since I can't solo them. I'm 30 sword/25 psychology at the moment.

Oops, yeah, I just meant the spider one. AFAIK spiders don't have any paired skill belts like werewolves do. Also since all I want are the spider goodies, I surrender all corpse looting rights if we go in a group.

I just saw that spider belt for sale used on the gardner in serb. Also, I'm like 46 archery, and can prolly fight better poo poo then I normally do, especially in a group. I could be down for poo poo later/tomorrow. Look for me online if you wanna do anything dangerous/stupid.

Oh wow, that wasn't the default spider belt - it was a req skill 30 spider belt with +4 inventory slots as a bonus. Went ahead and grabbed one for later, thanks for the tip. I should have a few hours free later tonight and around the same time tomorrow.

This is a game where lucky loot drops can seriously impact just how powerful you are. I got an Animal Handling drop that doubled the amount of Armor and tripled the amount of Health my pet had, and let it do a solid amount more hate. A couple like that and it'd be a viable tank against anything. Same for Werewolf gear. The combos generally come on gear that also boosts your damage, so you can be doing a ton of damage while restoring Health and Armor. Conversely if you *don't* get the drops you need, you can be absolutely hosed and have to grind out like another 10 levels on a skill to reach a viable point to fight some of the tougher dungeon stuff. Also where the hell do you get Fish Scales from?

You can wear belts that skew drops towards your combat skills, and you can check the used items and consignment items at appropriate vendors in appropriate areas and usually get great gear upgrades. Just like in other games, it's not all luck if you are willing to buy. A proper AH system would make it even easier.

I'm free for the next few hours now, if that lines up with other folks' schedules re: the Crypt. I'll be on as Mraaj or Talbot, currently goofing around farming pork on the latter. EDIT: I hopped aboard a random late-night speed train through the Crypt with a really high level player, so I have my alt's spider loot now. However, I'm still up for bumbling around doing dumb things with goons one of these days. (Also, turns out extra spider skills are all sold as scrolls, not as normal trained skills, which means you can buy the full set when you get your potion and belt.) mushroom_spore fucked around with this message at 10:22 on Mar 10, 2015 |

Then, if you're not interested in blacksmithing, go SURVEY THE gently caress out of metal and sell the metal to me for double vendor price, and I'll eventually make you all sexy tools like +10 skinning knives. I've done 110 tier-2 metal surveys to get the 20 blacksmithing I need (plus 20 carpentry and 50 goblinese) to unlock toolcrafting, and now I need piles of tier 1 metal in the beginning.. it hurts. edit: if you guys haven't seen a pattern to my posting yet, it's basically "my life is so hard, give me your things I will totally give you better things"

Man, I just got myself necromancy on my hours old newbie with the help of a random helpful guy on global and drat is it strong - my posse of skeleton archers just murders anything, and necromancer spell damage is very high - plus, I got like 20 fire salt from the exploding sheep so I got all the level 1-10 fire magic, and now fire spells can actually do damage for once. Unfortunately, it looks like skeleton buddies don't follow you inside the crypt, and the crypt doesn't count as a graveyard for some amusing reason, so I can't start farming in there, sadly.

So, I guess no patch until at least tomorrow I've been training Sword and Psych as my main combat skills. But this is kind of a problem sometimes, because some enemies (e.g. mantises) have lots of protection against slashing, and I only really do damage with my slashy sword skills. I used a bow to do that babby "kill seven mantises" quest, but it was a pain. Is the only real solution to train a lot into some other form of damage? I also went into that cave near Lenin's head and couldn't do any damage to the giant snails. Do they have slashing resistance too? My snails anatomy isn't high enough to see.

All three of my characters use curse skillsets for main and AFAIK you can't gem for that without some bs from sigil scripting to pick the right animal, but two of them stick to one secondary so I'll hang on to gems for those. Pig grunts quietly for a couple of things and squeals for the AOE fear, and spider makes some clicky noises while walking and squeaks when attacking. Neither has anything as piercing, loud, and generally horrible as my brief experience with cow.

I have a 10% chance that my snare arrow does +1000 damage, and on a different piece of gear it's 10% for another +600. There's other archery stuff for straight +100 I think, or 50% of +100-+150, but nothing beats snare
