You can redeem app store codes using the camera, using the app store app.

In terms of unrelated camera scanning, Evernote recently released Scannable (https://evernote.com/products/scannable/) to scan camera stuff into PDFs or JPGs. It was posted about before. Pretty good for receipts and business cards. I don't think it does OCR without premium though.

Any recommendations for a remote control for Kodi (formerly XBMC)? Price not an issue, needs a decent iPad interface, bonus if good for kids to use and includes gestures.

LampkinsMateSteve posted:Any recommendations for a remote control for Kodi (formerly XBMC)? They all suck. Even Harmony's app+hub+rf dongle sucks. We bought one of those mini keyboards with a trackpad (2.4ghz first, then bluetooth because the interference was terrible). Something dedicated is a much better option, I have no idea what "good for kids" means, but I assume a kid can be taught how to use a mini-keyboard.

The best interface for kids shows is Netflix in kids-mode on an iPad paired with a Chromecast on the TV. My boy just turned three yesterday and he's had that setup figured out for months now. So simple. I tried to copy that setup with Plex and a special 'Kids' library for him to watch our local content, and it's close but not quite as smooth as Netflix. Figuring out what you want to watch on the iPad and then just hitting one button at the end to see it on the TV just seems such a natural way to go about it.

What was the name of the recent app with the workflows and such and stuff? The one no one thought Apple would allow? Edit: Ha. It's literally called Workflow. Nothing to see here. Seems great, but a little pricey for someone who just wanted to play around with it. decypher fucked around with this message at 16:47 on Mar 7, 2015 |

Zigmidge posted:What is launcher? My google-fu fails me. Something like Activator? Just an app launcher. Notable because it has a widget that lets you launch rudimentary processes involving many apps from notification centre. I got it before it was removed and I use it regularly to launch google maps and find a bus route home. It's two clicks instead of unlocking, opening google maps, typing the beginning of home, and then setting the route.

Alternatively, what are the best apps for using an iPad as a second screen for my Windows laptop? What I really want to do is use my iPad to turn knobs and whatnot on some music software. Air Display is Mac only...

I have Air Display on my pc its not mac only. Try the splashtop 2nd display app first cause its free, if you cant get it to work (i couldnt) get Air Display. I'm using it to watch the image im working on zoomed out and its great for that but laggy. When I bought it I pulled a random vst out of renoise to it and its reasonably responsive.

What's the snappiest phone app that'll sync to PC/web? I know evernote is popular. Something like the "reminders" app on the iphone but I can easily pull up/sync/add stuff on PC and across multiple devices. I guess adding actual long notes instead of just bullets would be nice too. Lastly you guys have any luck with any sleep hypnosis apps?
