Both of those things are useful, thanks again Pierzak. It's kind of frustrating that arguably the best thing to get people hooked on this game (high res pictures of their models, brilliantly painted) is hidden in the sidebar under the name "temporary catalogue".

is there a way to switch how models are listed in the army builder, similar to Forward Kommander for WMH or the Malifaux crew builder? Not having everything in a single list seems so goddamn clunky :psyduck:

Rules question, if a cc weapon has Dual Action (meaning it hits twice) and poison, do you have to make the poison check for both of the hits? If it were to hit both times that is.

No, the example for Poison is a DA/Poison weapon and the victim, hit once, needs to make two Armor rolls and one BTS roll.

Putting up an army builder app that apparently asks the server to run a query against a database every time you click anything seems like the wrong thing to do. Putting things like rules documents on their server and not using a content delivery network so their server doesn't get hammered into the ground likely isn't a good call either, or get knocked offline by a random DDoS in general.

It is like watching someone paint a miniature with glooppy un-thinned craft paints straight from the tube and then sealing it with gloss varnish.

I don't know enough about SQL optimization techniques or how the thing is optimized to comment on the specifics. If I heard Bostria right at the Dire States Rumble, they only had one webdev working on the whole site redesign and Army 5, so he got swamped and overwhelmed and burnt out. So, it's going to be a while while they get some more devs up to speed. I like writing my lists by hand, anyway.

Felt like a fun mix. A few heavy hitters, 3 specialists, A visor, moderate hacking area coverage (and help for the Ekdromoi drop, no netrods. I really wish Nagas had a FO option, but then Dasyus might see even less play than none. It just lacks smoke, I guess.

Probably not Combined Army or Aleph, since they both have a ton of special abilities on their troops. Otherwise any faction will work if you start with basic line troops and work up (the Operation Icestorm approach).

Bear Throne
Apr 9, 2014
Nah, even those aren't bad. Really you should be learning the basic mechanics with line troops as Corbeau said, so special abilities shouldn't come up until after you're good with that. Most special abilities build off of the core rules, so the biggest hurdle is remembering all the ones you've got, which I still mess up pretty frequently.

Allright, shopping trip report. The available selection was, as I feared, rather abysmal. Especially Yu Jing. I had set my mind on picking up stuff for Imperial Service but as 50% of the available blisters were Zhanshi, that plan was quickly out of the window. Below is what I ended up buying. The Zùyong is actually the old Invincible. I know it was on the do-not-buy list Pierzak gave me, but for 3€, it'll make a good counts-as Invincible Terra-Cotta Soldier. I paid 24€ total for this:

Got two games in and he managed to get a total of 7 kills. My Wu Ming forward observer continues to be an all star player in every game I have run him in. THe Pheasent seems to be really over coasted for what he can do, is it the Mono CC weapon? I have yet to get him a chance to use it and even if I did he does not seem that good in a CC fight anyways.

I was building lists for my Combined earlier and I noticed that Doctor Worm got boosted up to S3 . Is that a mistake or did they bump him up for realsies?

To be clear, this isn't an army list to put on the table. Otherwise I wouldn't have put the Kiang Shi control device in there. This is just the stuff that the store had that was worth picking up. But thanks for the advice on the Ninja anyway.
