I like tanks, but I hate how a significant number of the mechanics and map favor defensive play. God forbid you take a single hit. Get set on fire? All your crew drops what they're doing for a long rear end time while you put it out, leaving you a sitting duck. And you have to reload afterwards. Get your gunner hit? The new gunner will have to take the shell out of the gun to make sure it's OK before he fires.

The cap points, the map layouts, and a number of other things also favor it. It doesn't help when there are maps ( especially some of the lovely arcade ones ) where you can get shot almost as soon as you leave the spawn.

Well I mean, tank battles in history also heavily favoured the defender and at least you don't have to deal with 5 hidden anti tank guns for every tank you run into.

Pubbies, though thick, are not entirely incapable of learning through negative reinforcement. This is how quite a few but not all T3 US and USSR players learned to stop loving sniping in the open vs their german counterparts, and instead using speed and cover to get closer and be more effective.

Thus if we want German teams to stop loving sniping in the open, then we need more Pershings.

Fire it in single shots always. Even a small pause between shots is enough to ensure accuracy.

Just check the box in the launcher that disables grass when looking through gun optics.

Other than that, make it as pretty as you can.

In reality firing a two or three shots in a row like that would disconnect the engine block from the plane. In game they just make the shots go at 45º angles.

These CARB No marker events have been a lot of fun, it flips the whole tank hierarchy all around, letting tanks do so much more then before. Audio cues have saved my rear end more then once, hearing panzers on my flank and seeing him before he does me. Means I have to turn my music off, but it's worth it.

Still hope they make up on their word and turn conventional RB/SB into no marker, while the pre-selection is rather balanced not all my buddies can always participate in the events when they go above mid-tier... and nobody, including myself, cares about playing normal modes anymore after tasting nor-marker. :smith:

The Tiger II are both solid tank, the first one with the early Krupp turret is quiet a bit weaker in terms of turret armor but I think the gun more than makes up for it. It's also not a Porsche design, so it's just a generic teutonic death-trap and not a Feridnand-Firebomb Porsche kinda death trap.

The first tiger 2 has a really weak turret front, but other than that is solid and the gun is great. the second tiger 2 has a much better turret and is otherwise basically the same and is super, super good.

Dear players, a small update for all of you that are eagerly awaiting the upcoming changes to Realistic and Simulator Battles!

First of all: We're sorry it's not here yet, but don't worry - we're not too far away from it. There are still several issues that need to be resolved and some more work to be done before we can release these long awaited changes, but our developers are doing their best to make this wait as short as possible. As these changes are directly affecting the experience of random battles and thus a lot of our users, we have to make extra sure that the transition is done as smooth as possible. I am certain it will be worth the extra wait, and I am sure you will agree!

Regarding the time frame for release, I think it is safe to say that these changes will definitely be implemented before the next major update - and that is a worst case scenario. Personally, I expect it much sooner, but - as it is so often the case in game development - unpredictable incidents can never be ruled out. In any way, be assured that we are doing our best to get this new RB and SB experience out to you as soon as humanly possible.

Thank you for understanding!

hey remember when they said we were going to get a new matchmaking system for rb "soon after 1.43"?

Cool, so now people can have more poo poo to memorize other than ".3" and ".7" when they want to min/max their vehicles instead of learning to actually play!

Seriously though, I'm glad Gaijin is making most of these changes. The constant instant que times since the no markers events have even started is a good indicator that it is more popular than any non-arcade modes. Also mixed was a thing for a while in SB and it's not as bad as it sounds though I don't know how it'll work with no markers unless its just axis vs allies.

I hope they keep the markers in SB too. It's already hard enough for inexperienced players.

I think they're still taking away the HUD indicators for speed/altitude. You don't need this poo poo to fly because you can just eyeball everything from takeoff to landing. This will give players something to do while flying about aimlessly. Learning all the dials in your plane lets you fine tune your flying, seeing and feeling the effects directly and it's cool to let players figure this out on their own instead of how it is in RB where basically everyone flies at 300kmph to climb because the forums said so and can blindly dive until they redline. It just creates this MLG mindset where people jerk off to raw stats and perfect steps instead of really learning the rock-paper-scissors of maneuvering and why they are actually effective.

Dogfights in SB are always interesting because players don't simply hold a full-on keyboard turn while WEPing. Planes are only as agile as the person flying them can push them before spinning out and the instructor does not limit you from overexerting yourself. If you force an opponent into a move that you have mastered and they are struggling then you know one thing you can exploit against them the next time the opportunity arises. This is why it is not unusual to see players winning fights in 109s against planes like P-51s in the combined arms event as I'm sure many people have seen by now.

In regular SB, this just gets better because there are a large variety of planes that can fight each other. The limited views and differences in speed stack up and often become the deciding factor moreso than who can turn in a perfect circle the fastest. It is not unsual to see planes like P-38s straight up dogfighting with and even successfully shooting down Japanese planes when it is :911: vs :japan:

edit: also, Burno tried to use the American skin on the G8N1 today against Russia but it seems certain skins may have been disabled in SB. It doesn't really matter but I won't be surprised if the American Zero doesn't let you use the straight up Japanese skin anymore which is the funniest troll plane in the game.
