Weird game, Windies actually kept up the required run rate but just ran out of wickets.

Adam Voges is on 100* at stumps of the Shield final. I don't know if anyone has noticed because of the World Cup (I haven't seen anything this thread), but Voges has completely dominated the Shield this year. He currently has 1315 runs at an average of 109.58 with 6 centuries. It's a pity that he is 35, if someone ten years younger had these numbers everyone would be creaming their pants over him, but I've barely heard a peep.

Rather have him in the test team atm instead of Watson or Darsh.

Nope. He has been one of those guys who have been decent over the years without ever doing enough to push a case. Has a good ODI record.

I guess we were favourites in the '92 semi but other than that we would've been outsiders every game.

Out of the four remaining teams they seem to have their poo poo together the most. India have had the easiest road to the semis and haven't really been tested, Australia's batting is still shaky and SA are the dark horses.

Our batting is no more shaky than new zealands tbh. That said I'd make them the favourite. Australia have a pretty big advantage with the final being at the MCG.

Still gotta get through nu India.

There isn't really much separating these four teams, but I still reckon India might crack under the pressure. They've had it too easy all tournament.

Historical results for the semis

Aus and India have played 117 times, Aus are 67/40 over India
@ SCG: Aus are 12/1 over India

NZ and South Africa have played 61 times, SAfrica are 36/20 over NZ
@ Eden Park: 3/3

Assuming Aus vs NZ for the final

played 126, Aus 85 to 35
@ MCG: Aus 14/4

The only team capable of beating India on paper during the group stage crumbled instead. Then they had Bangladesh in the QF. They've played well, but nobody in Pool B bar SA was really capable of putting them under pressure for sustained periods.

More stats. The average winning margin so far this world cup is 111 runs or by 6 wickets with 80 balls remaining. A lot of close games!

Heres a list of number 1 batsmen not out which is as close as I could get, no idea how to refine it to last delivery faced though

I think it's just for strict 'out/not out' calls.

E: Either way the standard of umpiring from that particular end has been pretty effing abysmal throughout the tournament.

I don't think you can review a no-ball but they could have appealed and then reviewed it after it was given not out (assuming they still had a review at that point). They'd have had to be pretty sure though, with the bowler in his follow-through you're probably relying on a fielder at point/square leg to judge how high it was which is pretty tough at full speed.

I think the problem is that seeing as you can't be caught out there's effectively nothing to appeal.

I think there might be some suggested retirements for Gould and Davis after this World Cup.

Then came the shock. Davis has been terrible ever since I can remember, I don't see what's changed so much that he would be forced out. There isn't exactly a quality waiting list of umpires ready to go. They wanted to get rid of Billy Bowden but had to bring him back when there was no one else. Dharmasena, Dar and whoever the third umpire was who gave Jordan run out vs Bangladesh have all made much worse errors. There's like 2 good umpires in the world, and even that might be pushing it.
