Those who haven't marched 100 Soviet SMG troops through smoke into a pesky nest of German units at 50m range needs to experience it in CM:RT. Sometimes this game really shines. Also I tried the demo of CM:FI and that Italian/German mission was really loving fun, Italians are hilarious.

Sidenote: I wish as soon as I installed the mods that make the game really great it didn't make my SSD take 9 minutes longer to load bigger maps :(

Is there any interest for a combat mission tournament? I'd go with what most people have, I'm thinking that would be cmrt since there aren't any modules out yet for it but whatever we have the most of is fine by me. I'm thinking we would do a scenario (different one each round) and you would play it twice, once as each side, concurrently and then the winner would be the one with the best aggregate score. Shouldn't get a tie but if we do I'll make a tank dual map, one on one and the best tank wins. Every round would be a different scenario of course.

Only requirements I'd like would be a guarantee of 5 turns a week, barring the normal stuff of weddings, funerals, and vacations.

Well?

I'd be interested, for sure. If possible, have branches for different time zones so you have a chance of multiple turns per day - sometimes my daily schedule is busy, but when I have time I can get out multiple turns in an evening provided my opponent is awake and ready to play.

Yeah we could do that if we get enough players but I'm not imagining too much interest and you would still need to wait for the other bracket to finish. I mean hell you could do TCP/IP if both of you were up for it.

Are y'all both cmrt? I guess if you are interested it would be best to specify what cm you have, what you prefer, and your time zone.

Airstrikes and CAP are pooled per hex, so those probably represent 2-3 TFs.

3 specifically, 2 that are CV/CVL, 1 with just CVE's. Super leaky CAP - very few of my fighters were actually in the air, even when I replayed the turn with 100% CAP on.

I think his problem is that on hard major AI bases get auto supplied, so he can't just bypass Truk. Wait till '45 then nuke it :v:

If you haven't already I'd try high altitude night bombing, that should give even franks a hard time intercepting. I'm not sure if it's modelled but you might also wait for the dark of the moon, in theory only radar equipped night fighters should be able to do anything in pitch black.

E: Also, your carriers are in way too big TFs. I forget the exact rules, they are in the manual, but you shouldn't overstack aircraft in a TF, or you get coordination penalties. I've never seen it happen myself, but presumably if you stack 10 carriers in a single TF, you get such extreme penalties your planes have a decent chance of not evening taking off. :v:

I would say you have way too many carriers and not nearly enough escorts too, where are all your CLAAs and fast BBs?

This is it specifically, I can't bypass it because I can't hit the Marianas without being in range of Truk (and have no friendly AF). When I landed at Kavieng if I got within 13 hexes of Truk I'd get demolished by 300+ dive bombers. My fast BB's were in a different TF than the one that got nailed in those attacks, and I had all my CLAA's in my CV TF's, and DD's are all fletchers. I didn't mind the CVE's so much, but the CV's all being killed basically made it impossible to proceed with any plan...

That being said, I did eventually figure out a way (by reloading to the save before the turn processed) where my TF's were all 8 hexes away from Truk (2 from Ponape, with a shitload of fighters). I got every fast BB I could, and had them bombard Truk that night. I then had every bomber I could both from Kavieng (300+) and my DB's (300+) all AF/port as well. The first bombardment turn killed 500 AC, and closed the AF for the most part, although I took a huge hit on my own aircraft. Next turn I hit them with slow BB's and landed 4 divisions and 6 tank regiments (~60k stacking cost or so total). After 2 months of land combat I finally took the base, with bombers attacking every single day until the magical supply(-) appeared, although until that point I went from 2800 AV down to 1200, and only lowered forts from 9 to 6 through combat engineers. 2500 A/C destroyed on field in total during that campaign. I obviously could not have dealt with any reasonable KB response (the AI of course didn't).

Now I just need to repair all of my combat ships.. 30-40 sys damage on every battleship, and 4 months of ship upgrade while I was doing that campaign.

It's not hard at all. I picked it up a few months ago having never played Harpoon. The menus are all straight Windows forms, so everything behaves in a familiar way.

About the only negative I can think of is there isn't really a strong notion of "winning" a scenario. There is a scoring system but it relies on the scenario creator setting things up and in my experience can be somewhat unexplainable.

Check out Baloogan's youtube videos to see gameplay. Note that many new features have been introduced since he made them, but you will get the idea if it interests you or not.

This last match of Company Of Heroes 2 I just played has left a very sour taste in my mouth. Watching an IS2 bounce shells off the front of a Tiger from less than 50m really just has my blood boiling with impotent nerd rage. I challenge whoever to a match of CMRT, quick battle or a scenario doesn't matter, I will start as Russians.

Company of Heroes 2 is basically wheraboos the game.

Impervious :godwinning: German steel :godwinning: check

Russians commiting war crimes against the "honourable Wehrmacht" check.

American tanks are total paper designed to combust when facing and German tanks or anti tank weapons, check (they removed the Pershing and 76mm Shermans for some drat reason in the second)

At least the first one is still fun, especially with that well made Eastern Front mod.

Its pretty easy to play but don't try to digest all the intracacies at once because its too much, learn it more gently and you are going to get hammered probably at least once, i played the tutorials through, took me a couple of hours, watched a couple of baloogans streams, tried my first scenario, got wrecked, then tried my second and didn't make the same mistakes again and haven't stopped loving it since; having general knowledge about modern military matters is pretty useful because it removes some of the fog.

Ok here is the juice: anyone interested in the cmrt tourny go ahead and email me at dtkozl@yahoo.com. I'll throw up some brackets and get the scenarios chosen and we will probably start by the middle of this week. I got a new 3d card but this pc is 9 years old and my psu has degraded to the point where I get a bsod if I draw any more power than now SO I have to wait until my new psu arrives, which should be Wednesday.

Once brackets are up I'll email you with the scenario choice and your opponent. We will be using dropbox and I recommend pairing it with CM helper to keep track of your game.

If you need to sign up for dropbox and you don't mind use this referral link https://db.tt/eJ2ZFHqY so I can get a little more room. You don't have to of course, this isn't some ponzi scheme.

Any questions I'll be happy to answer them.
