That is correct. Tony's fist will either pass through them or crash the game. This is probably one of the things they are "fixing" with these patches as they work toward a functional level editor.

The swans are a really fun concept, but they're really really hard to actually use. I feel like it would work a lot better if you only controlled Alex, and Ash was just 100% AI-controlled.

If I remember correctly, I managed to chainsaw a patrolling fat man through a wall, and emerge on the other side after. Seemed gimmicky, but I then had to go back and "escort" Ash around difficult obstacles, like "walls" and "a door".

Tough to use, but the desync between the two characters is definitely exploitable over other characters.

The Biker bit in the first game where it first rewinds to play as him was just an amazingly perfect way to introduce his character. The whole game you're used to Jacket's lovely apartment where he has barely anything besides the essentials, it's a wonder that he has a spare bed.

Then Biker's got purple carpet, he's got a keytar lying around, he's got fake fur rugs, I think he has an aquarium? All little great touches that tell you who he is.

The game is really good about this. In Richter's house, in the bathroom you can clearly see all the stuff that's been put in to help his disabled mother. I figure most other games would have just said gently caress it but they went that extra mile.

Also wow, I never noticed until looking at that screenshot, but they even added subtle characterization to Evan and his wife by having their bed be two separate beds pressed together. They sleep together but they don't sleep "together".

In a pre-Soldier level, Jacket is chilling against a wall smoking, and has been smoking in every scene so far I believe, and the ground is just covered with cigarette butts. Cool little details and environmental story telling are all over in this game and it rules.

In one of the later Richter phone call interstitials, after Evan's wife has left, there are books and newspaper clippings completely covering one side of the bed

Wait, so how is Biker alive? I thought the whole "rewind and play as him" in HM1 was a bonus "alternate timeline" sort of thing.

And speaking of alternate timelines:
Any feelings on the whole "alternate history" thing? I don't recall any implications of that in HM1. Russians in Hawaii made me think there's some war I didn't know about, and it took me awhile to realize the nuke Beard died to wasn't the same as the others (missed the date), and there's a newspaper that directly mentions that San Fransisco got nuked by Russia. I just had initally assumed it was some deception or something else.

I kinda liked the feeling of a more normal world in the first game. I like the idea of 50 Blessings more in a world where Russia hasn't actually being in direct conflict with the US.

Moreso that Jacket is an incredibly unreliable narrator and so he probably left Biker alive even though he thought he killed him. Ditto with Richter.

He imagined that he killed Biker while on his hospital bed. The game spells out the fact that every chapter leading up to Trauma did not happen the way it appears to.

I think Roller Mobster and Magic Sword stand out as tracks. Everyone would agree Roller Mobster is loving awesome, but Magic Sword has been creeping into my top 5 songs a little more every time I hear it.

E: Whoops, I meant "The Way Home". Magic Sword is the artist.
E2: Just listened to it again. Still owns.

1.) Roller Mobster
2.) The Way Home
3.) Blizzard
4.) Divide
5.) In the face of evil
Honorable Mention - She swallowed burning coals

Roller Mobster, The Way Home, Divide and Remorse are all just incredible songs and the perfect choices for their respective levels.

The one that really, really got me was Run (Subway level). When you start that level the song sounds like the worst kind of horrible tuneless ear-rape and is a real :raise: moment, but then the tune fully kicks in and it's just, like, holy poo poo. It's a super chill song which reflects the (relatively) mundane yet hosed up situation poor Evan's found himself in, but meshes with the crazy writer-fu he winds up pulling off in the process. Roller Mobster hits hard with its action movie bombast, but Run sets the scene for an amazingly off-kilter bit of action.

Technoir is really good, too. This is just my Top 5, but there's only like one or two songs that I don't like on the whole thing.

The worst I think is the one where they sampled Riff Raff saying "ballin' like the pac 10" or whatever. I actually kind of like Riff Raff (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnmHkhStqhM please watch this), but knowing it's him kind of takes me out of it.

E: Run and Remorse also are really good.

I learned to appreciate that "tuneless ear-rape" opening, especially after hearing how the initial mix of the song opens.

Roller Mobster is a given, but Divide, The Way Home and Run are also really great songs that I listen to a lot. I've also been sitting through Escape From Midwitch Valley more and more. Seven minute songs are generally "eh" for me, but this one keeps my interest pretty well. Does that play anywhere in the game or is it just there from when it was used in that sick rear end trailer.
