Shorter Ted Cruz: Imagine there's no Obama, it's easy if you try.

This last stretch of the speech strikes me as coming from a dude who hasn't even perused an article from The Economist in a doctor's waiting room

PupsOfWar posted:intellect is complicated, though. You can have the kind of brains that make you an overachieving law student and champion debater while still being a dumbshit about comprehending the electorate or making policy, just as someone like G.W.B. can be box-of-rocks dumb about a wide array of things but excel in beating his frat buddies at Drunk Trivia Obviously that's true, and I'm not arguing that. But it's incredibly dumb to underestimate his intellect by saying "lol W went to Harvard too" as if that is in any way relevant. At the end of the day Cruz's ego is far too massive to make a successful run, he needs someone like a Karl Rove putting a precise political strategy in place for him and he needs to follow it, something that he obviously will not do. All I'm saying is that the man is objectively intelligent.

One day, all members of our generation will look to each other and ask where we were during Ted Cruz's famous "Instead, Imagine" speech. We'll all remember fondly.

Cain never got far enough to explain how middle class people would hate the flat tax, right? Cain actually did explain that he'd do away with that deduction, but he'd keep the charitable contribution deduction, which makes no sense, but whatever. Of course, Cruz's plan would run into the issue that there'd be nobody to process the flat tax postcards because he also wants to abolish the IRS, but pay no attention to any of that Ted Cruz 2016.
