I was one of those looking seriously at Guptil and thinking why? Prior to the WC. I even joked about selecting Henry instead of him since he gave a good bowling option and was just as likely to get out for a duck in the first over. But I still have faith in Taylor as last summer he was the dependable rock we could build an innings around a bit like Williamson this summer. He just doesn't seem to have his head together at the moment but one good game can change that.

The next game is the World Cup Final. There's literally only one game left for him to get his head together.

poo poo, I'd settle for him to just not run himself or anyone else out.

Yeah Taylor's biggest issue is a lack of confidence at the moment and I don't think a world cup final is going to put him under any less pressure. If he can make his forty runs in a respectable amount of balls while not running anyone one out I'll be happy.

I'd be more happy if he didn't get involved in any runouts for one game

The previous 15 games is a bit more than "a ropey series", especially since half those games are against associate teams. Also the fact that in half of the WC games Taylor has been directly involved in a run out. Dudes just bad at the moment, and he only has the final to redeem himself for me

Very true, I'm not sure how great their cricket knowledge is, but it never stopped them from doing amazing calls for AFL grand finals. Roy & HG were always more implicit with their genital chat, I had the Club Buggery deck of cards that had the flute, tool, snag and date as the playing suits.

Taylors role in this team is to get us through to the batting power play without crumbling. But no, let's gently caress with a winning team because reasons. And lets drop Southee while we're at it. And Williamson hasn't scored in the last two matches, he must be poo poo now, loving loser, let's drop him too.

Ross Taylor hasn't taken a single wicket with the ball.

For all those suggesting Ross Taylor shouldn't be in the team, who is your alternative? Because Latham was terrible leading up to the cup and I can't think of anyone else in the country (that's not an alcoholic retard) that should be included above Taylor.

You wouldn't drop him now before the final, but it's still pretty funny watching goons flip out when you criticise an out-of-form player.

You wouldn't drop him now even if we weren't in the world cup because even though he's out of form he's still scoring. He looked ominous against south Africa and I wouldn't bet against him standing up against the other finalist.

I don't think anyone is suggesting he's not out of form.

Seriously though, let's say he continues his form in the final, who do you replace him with in the next series?

He looked ominous for his first twenty balls before he just lost all momentum and got out in the same fashion as he has done this tournament, yea.

Scoring about 40 runs at a time but taking 20% of the entire innings to do it. The start he got on Tuesday was the way he needs to bat for his entire innings. There's a point at which your team is carrying you, but it's so much worse if you're taking up a heap of resources in a high-run era of the game.

No one is denying he's been poo poo. He's worth sticking with as there is no one else and it's likely it's just a dip in form. It happens with everyone. Just sucks on the timing.

Yea. It's not even that bad if he's just rotating the strike to one of the other guys if they're going for it, provided he doesn't run anyone out.

If you lot would stfu about Ross Taylor for a moment. There is an important game to decide who is the premier oval office team today. My money is on the Indian team who have the best bowling attack in the world.

I'm torn on today's game. On one hand I loving hate Australia but on the other hand I also loving hate the Indian side.

Beating Australia in the final in Australia would be the pinnacle but it would also be hilarious if they didn't even make the final. Also we've already beaten them this World Cup so by beating India in the final we've had to go through all the top sides.

I've been thinking about this. I'd probably rather Australia wins, as most of the initial ticket sales would've gone to Indians assuming they were making the final, meaning the crowd support would be more behind them.
I could be mistaken, but it appears from the TV coverage that the Australian public at large don't actually seem to give a gently caress about cricket at the moment. Guess that's gonna happen when the NRL (and to a lesser extent the Super 15) has just started.

I've enjoyed this summers cricket, but I think people are getting bored of Australia Vs India for the last 6 months. The KFC 20/20 competition also has left me more satisfied thanks to it's relaxed nature and players actually being allowed to show personality that's not calling each other grubs or asking to speak English.

Also all the matches overseas like the UAE series aren't televised on free to air here, which stops people caring faster too.

There also seems like a bit of backlash against the way the Australian cricket team plays and behaves at the moment. I've read multiple Australians saying they'd prefer us to win the World Cup...which is hosed up if you ask me.

The NZ team seem to be a bunch of chill guys just loving the game, where the Indians and Australians are rabid frothing at the mouth aggressive assholes that don't come across as though they respect anyone.

I'd love to see NZ take the cup.

Also we've won four of the things and each subsequent one feels less special and if our little brothers across the Tasman win that'd be all :3: *puts you in a headlock and gives you a noogie*

I want to see those ashen-faced performances; I want more of them. I want to be encouraged. I want to see you squirm.

In my experience it's only really cricket people who've been interested in the World Cup, partly because it's dragged on for so long at the tail end of a long summer, and also because only the Australian games have been shown on FTA TV. In terms of engaging the general public, the tournament's been a massive failure, and stands in total contrast to the Asian Cup where everyone was watching and talking about it.
