I just left this Facebook "Movie Watchers" group because the admin wouldn't stop IMing me and posting studies in the thread, etc, after I said Ready Player One was going to be a lovely movie for manchildren. Basically just shouting about how I'm personally attacking him because that book was the best thing he'd read in a decade. On one hand I know I've been stressed lately and was basically lashing out against easy targets, but on the other hand, man... gently caress. gently caress your terrible movies about books about video games. gently caress.

Ready Player One is truly, truly awful. So cringeworthy with its author self-insertion and wish-fulfillment. You say it's a novel where a fat, pimply nerd uses his knowledge of 80s pop culture and video game trivia to shame the bully, get the cute blogging girl, get fabulously wealthy, and save the day? Did you write that before or after you bought your Delorean and wrote Fanboys?

I think I may be a Sociopath, actually. When I get stressed, like at work, or my wife with Lupus is hella-sick because it's active this month, etc, I'll be super helpful, polite, loving, calm, to people I know (Real People), but if I see an argument on the internet or something, I'm IN THERE, just being the shittiest person possible. I can catch myself by thinking "wait, no, think about it, it is more important to be kind than to be right, come on." But sometimes that happens too late. Like, it's so easy to out argue some rear end in a top hat on the internet that I honestly forget they're a person, and that People Have Different Opinions And That's OK. Sorry for the e/n, genchat.

I've had a really long and lovely couple of days, which I'll elaborate on a little bit in an hour or two, but right now I'm drinking a very large beer and watching Aguirre: Wrath of God and everything's pretty ok for right now. Also welcome back Dickeye, I'm sure you've learned absolutely nothing from your probation but I'm glad poo poo's working out for you again.

I was going through my Amazon wish list and saw that Miami Connection on Blu-Ray is back in stock, so of course I ordered it the second after I saw it. If you were like me and unable to get it for a while due to it being out of stock, go grab that poo poo! Don't you want to watch Miami Connection in the highest quality available (still not very high but higher than any other version of it)? It's got a bunch of special features too, including a making of.

So my wife's grandmother passed on Monday night. She spent the last week not really conscious, so we knew it was coming but it was still pretty upsetting. People came in from out of town and the retirement community she lives in let us set up camp in an empty room in the hospital section a few doors down from her so we had a little base camp. My mother-in-law slept in that room for a couple days and we needed a spot to go and decompress while we waited for it to happen. I don't know. I knew her longer and was probably closer to her than all my actual grandparents combined. Gommie was an incredible badass and the sweetest woman I've ever met. She was a warrior for peace and equality; a member of the NAACP for nearly 50 years as well as several community action groups. She was arrested dozens of times (well into her 80s!) for protesting against war on Hiroshima Day and whenever at Lockheed Martin. She was an outspoken progressive and was unafraid of making enemies out of bigots at her retirement home. She was an incredible person who touched hundreds of lives in her 95 years and she will be missed. Her passing has left a deep hole in our family. Goodbye, Ann.

Girl didn't know her great-grandmother had ever been arrested so she was kinda put off by finding a record of one arrest in a photo album in her appartment, along with a photo of her getting cuffed. My wife's cousin estimated she had been arrested about 70 times in the name of peace. edit: seriously, Gommie didn't give a gently caress for Johnny Law.
