I'm so used to L1 being a shield in Souls games it's tripping me up that it isn't in Bloodborne. How dare they change controls on me?!

I forget if this happened in the unmodded version of X3: Albion Prelude as well, but with the rebalance mod installed, every single pirate fighter in the game seems to be able to carry a certain type of missile that can instantly kill anything smaller than a frigate. To make it more obnoxious, the anti-missile systems and scripts either can't or won't try to shoot down the loving things. It's especially fun when you have traders in another part of the universe, because you get to watch from the map as your entire escort group of anti-fighter corvettes, heavy fighters, military transports, and scouts loses to one little Discoverer scout because the out of sector calculations (how it determines who wins or loses when you're not there to watch) is broken as poo poo. I wish I knew which type of missile that was; basically every fight with them now (and they're everywhere thanks to the mod) is a random dice roll for whether or not they shoot the missile. Also it's really obnoxious that exactly one sector out of fifty I've seen so far sells jumpdrives, and it's surrounded at all times by pirate fleets and battleships. I've just given up and started using a cheat to install the drives on my ships then just removing the money from my account, especially since the one time the path was clear yet another loving pirate scout showed up and instant killed everything heading to the equipment dock with the drives. It's still a cool game and all, but even besides those issues the whole thing is clunky as hell too. RBA Starblade has a new favorite as of 06:22 on Mar 26, 2015 |

I just beat Ori and the Blind Forest, a beautiful metroidvania game. The game has three save slots and you can save almost whenever. However, In addition to a couple of missable items in areas you get locked out of AND auto saved out of after getting the objective there and a point of no return near the end, when you beat it, it locks your save file.

Games that rely on auto-save should be the type that have no missable content whatsoever, like a puzzle game or a platformer.

It should be in games where there's no way to make 'negative progress'. For instance, Super Mario Galaxy asks you whether you want to save every time you get a star, and there's no reason not to. You can replay any part of the game at any time. The only bad thing you can do to yourself is throw away all your starbits. The sequel thankfully did use autosave.

Jumping in Bloodborne is somehow even worse than jumping in either Dark Souls game. It's basically the same method as in Dark Souls 1, but it doesn't seem to work as well. (second time I've posted about Bloodborne in this thread, but the game is pretty great overall)

Dying Light is a pretty fun game so far. My biggest complaint is, and I know this is silly and petty, but, I've gotten back into corners or surrounded a few times by large groups. When I look at the groups, I can see some character models presented over and over. Especially the females. I'm sure this happens in a lot of games, but maybe it's because when I'm surrounded in other games, I can easily get out of it, whereas in this game, you have to have a strategy. For instance, I'm sure in Shadow of Mordor there's plenty of recurring models, I just don't notice because it's easier for me to get away.

I think the repetitive character model is a memory thing. As I understand it as the game goes on, or you have higher specs to play with, more and more varieties will be loaded on. It's purely anecdotal but I get a lot of generic white women zombies when I first start the game but then a lot more diverse crowd a couple hours after.

Star Trek Online has some pretty great space barbies. Part of that is you only have one 'armor' slot, and instead of just equipping it you unlock all the armor bits in the tailor, so you can mix and match.

Finally decided top give Dark Souls 2 a try and I don't get the appeal. Everyone gushes over the "difficulty" of the series and how high stakes the game is, but the difficulty doesn't stem from brilliant game design or amazing balance. The difficulty is solely based on the fact that the game has the most horrendous control scheme and button response I've ever seen and making your character perform the simplest of actions is an exercise in futility. I guess gimping the player with a nightmare of a control scheme is a kind of difficulty, but it's not the kind I was expecting.

Pillars of Eternity After how many years and threads about this game, its finally out. And I have to work and can't play it. Dragging it down for me. For real, Lords of Xulima. I've followed the devs on it and they say "we don't hand hold you, its hard like old school RPGS"! when in reality they just put huge difficulty spikes in with pixel hunting secret switches to progress in the game. The devs are just like "gently caress you, figure it out". The gameplay is alright, but its turned into a huge grind once you get to a certain point.

What are you talking about? Left hand has two attacks, L1 and L2. Right hand has two attacks, R1 and R2. Move with analog. Use item with square. I'd say the most bizarre thing is the bow, where you first need to attack with it to ready it, then attack with it to draw.

I ended up accidentally shooting Min while trying to figure out how NOT to. Then the game autosaved after the credits. I like the game, but no way am I replaying the entire game just for another cutscene. grittyreboot has a new favorite as of 19:59 on Mar 26, 2015 |

If you do treat the game like Skyrim and charge in, sword flailing wildly then you'll just get pasted constantly, that said however, once and if you get used to the slower combat then you can indeed go charging right in, enemies move and attack fairly predictably and a few seconds spent to see how they move is all you need. Dark Souls 2 isn't very creative with enemy design, most of the bosses and enemies are variations of Giant Dude with Giant Weapon.

Dark Souls 2 is a long way away from the first game, mainly because of the enemy design. Still better than most anything else on the market though.

Not dragging it down but I find Bloodborne way harder than the other three Souls simply because I can't loving block. Also complaining about controls for a souls game is ridiculous. They have the tightest controls of virtually any action rpg I've ever played. joshtothemaxx has a new favorite as of 23:57 on Mar 26, 2015 |

Pillars of Eternity - gently caress you! Stop crashing and trying to BSOD my computer. I have no idea how a unity game can gently caress up this badly but having to restart it every 5-10 minutes is pissing me off. Also the AI so far are braindead. If you set your guys to attack before starting combat proper they completely forget what they're doing and rush in to do whatever the gently caress. Including running laps around a tree instead of going after the things attacking my mage. What the christ.
