The M4 does similar damage and has faster movement and way better recoil too. I never buy the AUG. The SG553 on the other hand, I actually like a lot. It has really weird recoil, kicking up and to the right really hard. On the other hand, it's more accurate than the scout while scoped, while the AK is actually pretty inaccurate at longer ranges. The SG also has a really long predictable recoil phase. Most rifles spray 9 or 10 reliable straight line shots before they start to kick heavily to the right or left. The SG fires 15 shots in a straight line to the up and right, and the last 5 shots are actually really tightly clumped. Ideally you should never get to that point, but lets be honest, it happens a lot, especially at lower/middle MM tiers. I like the SG, especially since the economy is innately T sided. A full buy with a SG is still cheaper than a CT full buy, even if the CT skips helmet ($5000 for SG with helmet and smoke/frag/flash/flash, $5150 for M4 with vest, kit and smoke/frag/flash/flash). Obnoxious little crap about the SG: The scope is a trap, never use it when you're attacking. It's okay if you're holding an angle. You move slightly slower than an AK (84% v . 86% of knife speed). It's a really bad buy against unarmored opponents. Most rifles kill in 1 less shot at all ranges when armor is eliminated. This means that the AK absolutely tears through unarmored enemies (3sk with any combination of chest or stomach shots). The SG has 100% AP, which means it deals identical damage to armored and unarmored targets. Don't buy a SG round 2. The scope is wasted against eco targets and the extra $300 is more meaningful there. I'll buy the SG as a slumpbuster gun, or if i'm attacking a really long angle and I have enough for a proper full buy. I still tend to use the AK because the spray pattern of the SG makes transitioning back to the other rifles really difficult, especially the Galil, which actually kicks in the opposite direction. And assuming that you're buying 8-10 rifles in a half (which feels about right for me), thats almost an extra AK that you could have bought. It also means that you can turn 2 full ecos into Tec-9/vest ecos instead, which I actually think is way more crucial. I will also generally buy the SG over an auto in almost every auto situation-- but that's because I'm miserable with the autosniper for some reason. I think if the SG was available to CTs, it would be an obvious choice, even if it still cost $3300 or $3500 or whatever. A SG back plat on B is almost as brutal as a SCAR-20. It's also really great for hostie maps, but lolol competitive strategy in hostage maps, right? Also, for what it's worth, the fire rate is identical in both scoped and unscoped modes. The scope actually linearly reduces recoil.
