If that's not confusing enough, they also have multiple licensing tiers for the iDRACs which enable or disable features; if you want the virtual console and media functions, you need an Enterprise license, which is a few hundred bucks extra. (It's also fun when the iDRAC shits itself, loses its license, and reverts to Express, losing most of the remote functions in the process. )

I had no idea that this was an optional piece of equipment on dell servers. Yes, some cheap gently caress ordered some for our facility (I don't know who, it was before my time). The ones that do have them are all connected, the ones that don't are connected to our IP KVM. I think I'm the only one that knows how to use both the DRAC and the IP capability of the KVM. Everyone else just walks in to the server room and uses the console. Coffee chat: I bought a BonaVita from Massdrop. It came with the glass lined carafe. The glass exploded the first time I attempted to make coffee. Contacted BonaVita and they sent me a Stainless lined carafe. If you need an inexpensive burr grinder and don't mind putting a bit of effort into it, you can get a manual grinder. *drat, beaten* I have that Hario at home. I need to get one for work. I think this next weekend, I'm going to make a trip and get a bag of good beans to tide me over while I take apart and clean my roaster that I've been neglecting.

I had noticed this random server didn't have idrac/ilo setup and I went to plug it in. The idrac network port had a plastic filler like it was an option that wasn't purchased. Oldly enough idrac is confurable on the server but I don't have a card to plug it in. Seems like just another bad business move.

That's why even now current generation of PowerEdges changed how that works. 11G used hardware keys, 12G used software keys but for lower end racks and towers the dedicated OOB port was optional (some people don't want to spend the money). 13G should be better about having the dedicated OOB ports.

I have a VRTX whose CMC (chassis DRAC) just did the same thing. The "guilty until proven a management license owner" model of Express vs Enterprise licensing is horrible, and I'm glad other corps like VMware are pulling away from it as a default.

In Century Link hosting they are both too cheap to opt in for out-of-band management on hardware, and too cheap to actually dedicate switch ports for any devices with it. Always "remote hands" access or some form of depressing WebEx share of RDP.

My boss is going on a trip to New York for a week starting tomorrow; it's pretty exciting for him, it's a birthday present from his girlfriend from way back in February and they've got all these cool plans. I was concerned at first, because with them gone it's just me and one other person, but we have a great $VeteranCustomerSupport person who's had a year in the job and is totally self-starting and problem-solving. Then around 5pm today I get this IM from the boss: "$VeteranCustomerSupport has handed in their notice effective immediately."

Found out today a whole bunch of people at our other IT office are moving moved to a new building across town. To a part of the city that is surrounded by retail box stores and is a traffic nightmare, not to mention being on the other side of the city from where most of the people live. I'm not even sure the place they are moving into will be large enough for the group moving, and if it is, there won't be a lot of space for growth. So now we solved a space issue in one building, and created a brand new issue in another, and inconvenienced a shitload of people.

I have this problem but only when I try to make a second cup with the same grounds. My Fiance doesn't like her coffee as strong so I always make her a cup with my grounds. About 20% of the time when I'm removing the plunger it shifts up the filter. All I do is empty the aeropress out, put another filter in and just sift the coffee through it.

It's a middle ground between French press and espresso. The steep time is very short and you force the water out through the grounds instead of squeezing them. French press coffee is good, but the best-tasting cup of coffee I've ever had was made with an Aeropress. I kid you not, it tasted exactly as wonderful as fresh-brewed coffee smells. No bitterness, just goodness.

Im trying to find the holy grail of easy to make/tastes better than Mcdonalds coffee. I have a Keurig because there is nothing simpler than popping a k cup into the thing and hitting brew. I hate the wastefulness of it though and I also dont think it tastes great. Ive tried a french press but the cleanup of a press is just too much work when Im trying to get out the door in the morning or get back to my desk to work in the afternoon. Is an Aeropress a healthy mix between the two?

This must hold the water next to the grounds just long enough to give it a better steep than the re-usable k-cups. I'm looking at the Aeropress now. Its cheap enough the hell I may just get one to give it a shot

We've become so... I don't know what to call it. Project focused? Is that a thing? ... that you can't mention anything you're going to do without being asked for an ETA. It has gotten so bad that a guy mentioned that he was whiteboarding a project this morning, this would be a pretty significant infrastructure change, and he's already been asked for an ETA for it. It's all theory now, we don't need to worry about ETA. Stop saying ETA. What is your ETA on not asking about my ETA? It is too bad because project management is a perfectly legitimate discipline, but I don't know if I'm exposed to any job which it is easier to be bad at.

I couldn't find a megathread for this, and gently caress it, this poo poo is pissing me off, so... any SpamAssassin gurus here? Not a work thing, but gently caress spam. I've had this stuff coming into one of my email addresses from literally randomly registered domain names and various newly registered domain names (more often than not using the new gTLDs) for weeks now, and it's getting out of hand. One day I cleared it all out at 8am and had 15 new spam emails by noon. The crazy thing is SpamAssassin is marking it all as low numbers (between 0.2 and 2.6/10) on the "how obviously spam is this" scale -- for those who've never used SpamAssassin, 5.0 is by default the "yep, it's likely spam" threshold and "it's not spam" can go into negative numbers. The auto-whitelist feature is disabled and the database is empty, because I've already had that issue. These messages simply aren't firing any "obvious spam" algorithms even though to humans who are at all computer-literate it's clearly not legitimate. I've blacklisted one of the most commonly used TLDs, and here's SpamAssassin's rule flags for one of the blocked messages: code:
