Do I have to do anything special to an external drive to make it work?

I have an extra lying around and was thinking of plugging it in. Will the Wii U format it or should I do that in advance?

When you plug it in, the Wii U will ask if you want to format it. But be warned you can't partition it and use a part of it. The Wii U takes the whole drive

Yeah I haven't been able to redeem my reward either. I'm gonna try to wait until around midnight and see what happens.

When Nintendo announced Club Nintendo was closing though, it took me about 4 days before I could finally use the site.

Perfect. This spare drive has a y-cable. 500 gigs, too. 5400 RPM won't really make a difference, right?

^^^^Usually, they're on Twitch and youtube. Twitch is a regular stream, youtube is like 5 secs behind but tends to have regular video quality instead of stream quality because of it.

They stream on Twitch and Youtube and generally run no longer than an hour, and the full upload goes up pretty much immediately after the stream ends.

They're going straight into a Nintendo Treehouse stream after the Direct, too.

EDIT: just so people know, the JP site confirms no smartphone/NX talk.
