The Republican primary base is going to get split like a dozen different ways between Jeb/Christie/Cruz/Rubio/Paul/Huckabee/Santorum/Perry/Fiorana/whoever. It'll end up being a race between the Establishment (Jeb, Christie or Rubio), the Anti-Establishment (Paul or Cruz) and the Social Conservative (Huckabee or Santorum). Paul has as good a chance as anyone of becoming the nominee despite saying stuff like that. If he does win, he'll have some ready-made talking points for the general, especially if he's facing Hillary.
