When I first got my hands on this book, I was expecting a collection of the comics based on tweets created by Mike "Vector" Belly from the popular web series "twitterthecomic tumblr site", and I did get that - just not exactly in the way I expected. The book opens with a few pages describing the central conceit of the book - that the creation of the tweet comics took place in a parallel universe where it was done from love of the tweets and not from Mike B looking at an installing copy of adobe illustrator and having his eyes slot machine into little dollar signs - and from there it's the classic good sh*t style comics from start to finish. Comic comic comic. Hell yeah - tweet comics. One comic per page, usually, although there are a few two page spreads.

The comics in this book follow, for the most part, a simple formula: a tweet joke that features (implied or otherwise) audible speech is selected, and someone says the text in the tweet over four panels. This makes the jokes badly paced and stilted, and it also makes the art entirely redundant. The best case scenario for one of these comics is that the tweet the comic was based on is terrible, because then nothing is spoiled.

The best cse scenario for the art is when it calls for 3/4 angle facing humans standing perfectly still, because the weird janky limb vector f*cked up hell people look like an adventure time character was constructed out of flat polygons and rendered on a PS1. If they're drawn from the side then they look like that, but also they look like pac-man - and I don't mean pac-man from one of his classic gaming appearances. My associate morgan was going to smoke with the pages from the book but theyre all shiny so it's not even good for that.

In conclusion this book is 1. A pleasing little square shape and 2. cant think of a second thing to say about it. Don't buy the book. Also the tweet writers didnt get paid for having their stuff used in the book. I'm done writing this review now.
