I missed this in NES game chat but Dragon Quest 1 is pretty hard to play now and Dragon Quest 2 is a shitshow in terms of balance and design, the series really hit its stride in 3 and 4 which are the best RPGs on the NES DQ2 also kinda suffered here because it took so long to localize that Final Fantasy beat it to market in NA, and all the ways that DQ2 evolved the JRPG from DQ (vehicles, multiple party members with unique stats) were also done better in Final Fantasy

The first final fantasy is pretty short and easy for a JRPG, I didn't mind it back in the day. I've never had any particular compulsion to replay it, but it's fine.

Colonization was a pretty good '90's game, the message especially regarding eradication of native americans was a little dodgy but the mechanics were good enough. It was very nineties in that you could be doing great all game and then run into a brick wall at the end if you were unable to defeat the king and his billionty men. Plus I guess some guys made a new free version, so you can play your 1994 game in glorious Windows 2000 graphics http://www.freecol.org/screenshots.html Anyway that's my review, hope you're all enjoying pillars of eternity, I sure am!

Is H1Z1 still a hacker-infested wasteland? The reviews are pretty much all talking about it and the rating is 'mixed' with that seeming to be the biggest problem. I'm tempted because it's fairly cheap and it's a genre I've always really wanted to get into.

Been playing Dragon Age: origins. I feel like it and pillars have the same problem. That's a problem endemic to lots of games apparently. The intro quest is the most well put together, and allows more player freedom than the rest of the game. Luckily dragon age had enough staff to actually put almost as much love in the rest of the game, so I'll play a lil while longer.
