I basically expose for the brightest light source in the photo so it isn't too bright, then I rely on the D800's monster sensor when I crank up shadows, add a little bit of clarity, drop the highlights a tad, and then finally lower contrast. Salt to taste & serve.

The dynamic range of the D800 sensor has ruined me. Especially at base iso, there's an entire other photograph down there in the shadows.

I went to the desert and took some photographs of roads.
