Andrew Jackson cared about poverty. He had some unsound ideas on how to solve it, but he cared. I mean, not as much as he cared about dueling over his wife's honor, but it was at least closely after shooting Clay or hanging Calhoun.

I am leaning Sanders at this point. Think Rand drank the Kool aid when it comes to bombings.

Either way, Hillary just looks silly carrying her luggage around and flying coach. Does anyone seriously think this will work?

I really hope Hillary goes down in flames when the primaries start. I can't see how anyone can take her serious. Sanders winning would be so sweet though :allears:

Connecticut born Ivy Leaguer GWB sold himself as a rootin' tootin' cowboy and got himself elected over Ann Richards as governor of Texas. Even got himself a ranch in Crawford just in time to get elected President, that was fake as hell too but it was easily sold to enough people that it "worked".

People will largely believe what they want to believe, they just need a little fig leaf covering the truth.

Come on, even I'm not unrealistic enough to think that Sanders has a chance in hell.

And FDR might need some cultural reprogramming after we resurrect him.

I know that elections are largely determined by the state of the economy, but I do wonder about what impact Obamacare might have. Is there any precedent for the fate of a newly implemented entitlement to hinge on an upcoming election the way Obamacare does? I have to imagine that the tangible benefits of Obamacare might be difficult for people to let go of regardless of how they feel about it in the abstract. I am hoping we get some good stats about this as things heat up.

I do sort of wonder how much longer the Clinton campaign is going to keep up the populist travel options. She can certainly do it all through the "primary" if she wants to, as she'll be able to set her own schedule and stick to a single state a week, if she wants. But the campaign bus and the charter jet have to come out at some point, just as it did with Mitt Romney, another person famous for always flying coach.

I will say it annoys me a little that the Secret Service drives her around. I completely understand why she has a protective detail, but it seems like the campaign should be footing the bill for a driver.

Didn't Romney fly coach?

What are the odds that Rubio concedes early and becomes JEB's running mate? Orlando NPR has been really pushing the history and mentor/mentee relationship the two used to share.

Well it will only help the Democrats if they actually campaign on it instead of running away from it. It's way too easy even for a lot of people who are ON Obamacare exchange health plans and previously were uninsured to not realize that they are actually ON Obamacare and benefiting from Democratic policy.

He does for all his personal travel, which is how he got into an argument with SkyBlu of LMFAO flying out of Vancouver during the Winter Olympics, but during the campaign he had a private jet. You need to as a general election Presidential candidate because you're visiting 3+ states a day during the last month of the campaign and there's no practical way to schedule that on commercial airlines.

And inhale aerosolized poor people excretions? No, he had a private jet which is on video pulling into a hangar full of these loving filth who are so oblivious to their loathsome idiocy that they simply start cheering when the plane arrives, with "Fanfare for the Common Man" playing.

I don't know if having a few kind words for a Democratic Senator ghost-written for her and a few trace mentions of income inequality in her early campaign material constitute a leftward shift. At best I'd agree that she'll try and avoid giving progressive Democrats points to attack her on during the primary for fear of discouraging left-leaning voters once she has the nomination. The Trans-Pacific Partnership, for example, is very NAFTA-esque but you probably won't see Clinton say a word on it that she doesn't have to in order to avoid drawing fire.

The only policy statements she's made so far are about income inequality, so I wouldn't call it "few trace mentions"

OK that makes sense. I just remember a story a while ago where someone was sitting next to him in coach and was asking him questions and he seemed annoyed by it. May have been from his post-governor days before he ran for POTUS.

I think this would be unlikely given that Florida is a large state and its electors would be forbidden from casting ballots for both candidates, leading to the possibility of a Republican president with a Democratic VP (if this somehow winds up being Biden I will take it as proof of God's existence) in a close race. I guess one of them could pull a Dick Cheney.

If Jeb became inevitable and asked Rubio to be his running mate he would definitely pull a Dick Cheney, I don't know if Rubio owns any property outside of Florida, but in a worst case scenario I'm sure he could register as a DC resident.

Rubio's not going to un-Florida himself for a potential VP. That would mess with his alternate plans to run for governor after Voldemort's horcrux is finally destroyed in 2018. Jeb loses nothing by legally returning to Texas or the ancestral familial seat of Connecticut.
