Was that the author who loved the Death Star and all of the super weapons? It was okay the first time he did it but two or three books later it got old.

I read literally every book in the Star Wars EU and the only good series were the Thrawn Trilogy, most of the Red Squadron books, Back to Bakura, and the Yuuzhang Vong series (only because it changed my views on the Force and how it affects the user)

I read a bunch of the Star Wars Galaxy of Fear mini novels too because I was young and in hindsight I guess those were pretty good for kids books

Them's be fighting words laddie, those honestly induce brain damage they are so bad. ALtho not as the book with Callista I think it was? The sad misguided attempt for a loving Jedi ghost to bang Luke? Dear Lord, that was utterly rage inducing bad.

Sad truth is the Hand of Thrawn books were done by Zahn to put an end to a lot of that Eye of Palpatine / Luke falls for Jedi woman of hte week that just infested the gently caress out of the EU. It really is so pathetic Zahn was bought back to fix so many fuckups, his original trilogy really bought in some amazing characters - Thrawn and Mara Jade in particular. Plus Coruscant was named by Zahn and a lot of the whole planet city that we saw in the prequels was his idea.

Some of you guys asked how they could gently caress us over to protect a busdriver, the entire management of the bus line consists of former drivers and they run it on a very "old-buddy" level where the old guard is protected from everything so that they can retire at 62 with a killer pension. But i am not the kinda guy that will let that poo poo fly. We had a meeting yesterday where day had put "deciding the level of reimbursment necessary from (my company) to busline" as the only point on the agenda. I decided to hire a lawyer who specialises in contract law, this was way overkill, because in the instruction for bus drivers that the bus line have written, they are instructed to wait outside for the bus to be delivered, and they are forbidden to drive buses inside the shop or washing area. On our health and safety protocol, anyone other then a tech with internal training are forbidden to move a bus that is indoors.

The lawyer explained this to them, and told them that the way the 43page contract where they hire us for maintenance and repair is written, the action of their employee was a breach of contract, giving me the option to actually fire them as clients. I am also obliged to report them to the norwegian version of OSHA(.jpg)

this made them very silent, and they agreed to take full resonsibility for the incident, paying us for the damages to our infrastructure, paying for any overtime that is due to one lift being offline, report them selves to the correct goverment body and writing a letter of apology to my tech.

today, i called a meeting with them, telling that i cant work like this. and offered a peace. i even had cake for them. they seem more friendly now.

Wasn't planning on it, I just want to keep everything completely identical. If nothing else, for future troubleshooting.

Finally mounted the patch panel, and the cable pass through on the wall is barely screwed into place (it'll have to come out anytime I pull more cables, which will be a few times a week for the next month). I need to get either a wall mounted 12 port gigabit switch, or a small rack to hold the same switch, and a mountable surge protector. At the moment, it's a clusterfuck made up of a Verizon FiOS modem/router, a Trendnet 8 port gigabit switch, two HDHomeRun Primes, an Intellinet patch panel, an old APC desktop surge protector, and a TP-Link ethernet over power adapter (which will be gone tomorrow). The modem/router, switch, and TV tuners are just kind of thrown up there for now. Also a single coax leading into a triple splitter; eventually I'll have 3 coax jacks (the plate the single one is on has 3 keystones in it, and I have a decent quality Klein 8 port splitter in the attic that's only half used).

I'm hoping to have everything finished within a month. It'd be done in a week, except I really want to clean everything up and make it look neat, and I can't afford a proper 12 port switch yet (it'll daisy chain from the modem/router, but 2 ports on that will be used by the TV tuners). Worst case, I snag a 16 port switch if it winds up being the same price. Likely something along the lines of TRENDnet or TP-Link; decent enough for home use, and I'll probably throw in a timer to reset everything once a week. Even if I can't get a rack, I want to get a sheet of plywood and screw everything to it (everything has screw-mount holes), or toss a couple of shelves up.

I should probably track down some flat coax cables too, or at least make some shorter ones.

Send me your address fd3sengineering@gmail.com and I've got a switch you can have.

Five degrees to starboard!

I was driving downtown the other day, and I stopped at a red light in a piece of road that seemed like a right turn lane. To my left was an AMTRAK cop. I made a right turn when the light turned green, and the AMTRAK cop followed me. I joked with my friend about being pulled over by the train police.

Then he flipped his lights on.

Traffic was lovely, so I paused for a few seconds, waiting for a chance to pull over. Before I could, he passed me on the right and rushed to a genuine TRAIN EMERGENCY at the station down the street. My friend and I got a kick out of that.

A used Tiguan is kind of the upper limit of what I can afford. Besides I'm familiar with VW's, and a simple chip will put a Tiguan up to 230ish hp. Add in some suspension stuff, and I bet I could make it handle close to the GTI. I mean it'll never be exact because it's bigger and taller, but there are improvements to be made.
