Leave it to Brak
I don't understand that engine geometry, it has no traditional valves whatsoever and the inlet appears to enter the chamber directly at the exact bottom of the cylinder stroke.

And then on the exhaust side it has only half a stroke to expel gasses prior to it passing the exhaust port/valve.

I have no knowledge of snowmobiles (two stroke engine?) so this may be commonplace for them, I just assumed the majority used bike engines or something.

Yes, you just described a two stroke engine. The piston acts as a reed valve, there are no traditional valves. That's why it's a two-stroke; it does more than one of the traditional phases of an Otto cycle engine during each stroke, effectively combining intake, compression, ignition, and exhaust strokes into only two strokes (one up, one down).

And yes, a lot of snowmobiles use motorcycle engines, but a lot of bikes, especially dirt bikes, are two stroke as well! Two strokes also used to be found on some road bikes before manufacture of two-strokes for road going vehicles got phased out. SAAB even used to make two-smoke cars. (Newer dirt bikes and snowmobiles have mostly gone over to four stroke designs due to stricter EPA regs coming into effect).

Already happened. The Brits are loving insane with the things they do to Minis - TBH I'm honestly not sure of if Project Binky is the first GT4 driveline Mini either because Minis are the Rule 34 of cars - you think of something, someone has already done it.

Not even sure what a original MkI Cooper S with 60's competition history would be worth but I do know you have 850's and 998's with works history going for over 50,000 pounds. One of my uncles spent I think 30K just on a MkI Cooper doing a full authentic restoration about 15 years ago. And rebuilding one? You need to have all the original parts so no repos allowed for the big bucks thence you pay a lot of money to restore what was in the car - I know of guys who fixed engine blocks with holes in the sides because they had the right numbers.

Although I was a gearhead then, it was before my gearhead enlightenment and I basically thumbed my nose at the car because it had a V6 and not a V8. <facepalm>

What I want to know is how does it ever get to the point that someone's in traffic with something like this set up? Even in a manual that'll start without brakes being applied I'm still doing it out of habit for the most part. I can think of very few scenarios where someone might start a car up and end up reaching any kind of major road without at least tapping the brakes a few times making it really obvious.

loving with the FNG's is always fun. When I worked at an aircraft refurbish shop the go to for new guys was wait until after we stripped a plane to metal and are set to clean it off with this etching soap poo poo we had. Then tell the guy to get the prop wash from the closet. 15 minutes later when he came back empty handed saying he couldn't find it, give him the helpful hint that the prop wash is located behind the flight line.

You don't need to hold the brakes to start an auto either, just to shift from park. That's still strange that you'd get that far. Also what's the best way to do this?

Don't a lot of vehicles have a pressure switch attached to the master cylinder? That should generally be in an accessible-ish place under the hood as would be the horn. A short bit of wiring, maybe a relay, doesn't have to be a great job to work for this purpose so you could probably booger it in there pretty badly and still have it get the job done.

Otherwise if there's a sensor on the brake pedal presumably the horn wiring is somewhere under the dash in the general driver's side area as well.

When I was in the air force gassing planes, the joke was telling the new guy to pull a spark plug from the truck (Mack diesel), when they'd come back saying they can't find it we'd say just follow the loving plug wires dumbass :v:

I just don't get why people think they have to be road vigilantes and police things like overtaking or speed limits. Let the rear end in a top hat pass and have an accident on his own, while your blood pressure remains within operating range and you live to wave another dickhead by tomorrow.

I've been tailgated by idiots in their fully-laden SUVs + trailers, and eventually (when it was safe) just slowed down to let them pass. When they passed I flipped them off for their miles of discourtesy and got brake-checked. I guess that makes me just as guilty, but I let it go and laughed at the guy when we stopped at the same petrol station 100 kilometres down the road. He looked remorseful as his whole, displeased family piled out of the car.

Shocked he didn't go for the extinguisher pull.

One thing which I've always liked about racing in the US is we tend not to have windows on our doors. While climbing out thru the window would likely not be easy. Hell, getting out between the seat and the roll bars can be awkward. I imagine should I have to exit in the event of a a fire, I'd find a way to make it easy.
