Not surprising. When you get bought out by a giant, patent hoarding 'industry leader' and start making your product less open source, you will lose the makers. 3D printing is open source, and not expensive. Making it expensive by buying the name will not work anymore. The beginning of the end for the monopolizing giants. I am sorry for makerbot, but not from right now. From a few years ago when they sold out.

oh. oh well

I remember one time MakerBot funded an NPR segment where they found people who developed emotional attachment to objects and then scanned the objects so the listeners could 3D print the objects from their computers (which COMPLETELY misses the point of object attachment but whatever.) One of the objects was a colored egg with the insides sucked out that a woman got from her grandmother who died of cancer and the MakerBot retards blew it up during the scanning process. They then offered the woman a bunch of free 3D printing poo poo, which she declined.

doesn't makerbot have a deal with Microsoft to sell in their Apple Store knock-offs and didn't Windows RT include a driver for them or something?

windows 8 has some sort of built in support for 3d printers, as well as a 3d builder app on the app store. and an online tool for cleaning up stl files which I heard was alright.

I HAVRE A PRINTER STORY!

Man. I was trying to print some full color stuff onto label paper to make logo bases for my Infinity army. I'm a nerd, okay. Apparently, these Epson photo printers can print instead from a computer itself from a SIMcard like you'd find in your fancy digital camera. Wowee! Talk about advancement in consumer technology! Anyway, first I put a pdf on a USB, but it had no idea what it was looking at and told me that there was nothing on the USB! I was all like, no way! There's totally a PDF on that thing! Alas, I had to preform some of my legendary google-fu because I didn't know what was up. In the end, the printer only accepted jpeg and tiff images with some specific digital camera format and it was a lucky thing that GIMP could spit those out or else I'd have had to go find a USB cable and actually plug things together or maybe this one had wireless networking.

P.S. The Xerox (I think they were Xerox) printer, scanner, copiers at my degree granting institution's library had a great feature where we could scan documents and have them e-mailed as a PDF to our e-mail address. Let me tell you, that was handy!

No, but I probably won against the police dogs because the police then tazed me a few times, cuffed me, tazed me again, and beat my head into the pavement until I fell unconscious in a growing puddle of my own headblood, which is probably the reason why I don't remember actually fighting the dogs. It's also probably why the police seem to have lost all of the records of my arrest and forgotten it ever happened. Any more questions, kid?

i originally wanted one to print replacement parts to repair stuff. i like repairing things, even of i need to spend some time and in some cases a bit more (usually less tho) money

problem is in most cases if it's plastic i can probably just use the proper glue and that's it. if the part is destroyed to a point i can't reassemble it i'm probably going to be sol anyhow because i still need a reference part to cad a new one, and loving lol thinking every revision of everything is going to be online

the only thing in 2014 that i might've printed in 2014 was the valve knocker on my toilet fill valve, and even then i eould've probably spent hours trying to get the exact fucky angle right and after 17 prints i'd have something i still need to thread by hand and who the gently caress knows how long it would last

so spending :10bux: and upgrading my old balloon valve to a snappier cup valve was the only thing to do, even if i had a printer on my desk

yes, of all the places in the pos this thread is the right place to post about my toilet

would you rather have a 5 minute consultation with a nurse employed by a therapist?

SSRIs help some people, SNRIs help some people, etc.

any medication adjusting brain chemistry needs close monitoring, of course, but they can be an extremely important part of treatment by helping tweak it enough for talk therapy like cognitive behavioral therapy to be practical.

No. I'm not trolling about this. Poverty, race, or gender does not have anything to do with your Puritan-grade anti-sexual ideals and suggesting that it does is a disingenuous ploy to turn this into an argument about something else.

Nobody wants to be your friend and we choose to play games that offend you because you're an uptight prude, not because of your gender, class, or race. I am interacting with you as if you were undetermined in those categories and there is nothing that you can say that would make me treat you differently. There are millions of rich white men who are prudes. Don't conflate things that are unrelated.
