So yeah, I'm gonna go watch Cap 2 now for the first time and see how this keeps going but I just felt like saying that while I agree SHIELD is kind of a mediocre stand alone show its actually way more fun when viewed as bigger part of the puzzle like all the MCU movies. I'm actually really glad I never saw any of this Phase 2 stuff when it first came out and instead just collected it to binge before Avengers 2. That wasn't exactly the plan and I doubt I'll have the patience to sit on Phase 3 for two years to repeat this process, but it really does add to the experience when you take it all in as one big piece instead of a lot of different parts with disparate quality.

Enjoy. I thought Cap 2 was a beast of a movie, the best of the Marvel brand to date. I'd give anything to experience that one fresh.

And not coincidentally, SHIELD picks way the gently caress up after Cap 2.

Is there a guide to watching AoS and Phase 2 movies (the ship has kinda sailed, but still) in the proper order? It sounds like they touch on some stuff with the movies partway through the season, especially with the events of Winter Soldier. It almost convinced me to go back and watching more AoS, actually.

The guide is basically, Captain America 2 happens between episodes 16 and 17. Thor 2 happens between episodes 5 and 6 but it barely matters.

The Daredevil Netflix series is hella fuckin rad and it's pretty much the opposite of Agents of SHIELD in that there no real overt superpowers/superscience and the connections to the Marvel canon begin and end with them using the alien invasion from the Avengers movie as the driving force behind construction in New York rather than 9/11.

It did give a great line from the Asgard they found hiding on Earth.

Comedy Central is showing Zack and Miri Make a Porno, and the line "Watch poo poo while taking a poo poo" had the second poo poo censored but not the first.

I'd always heard the rule is you can say poo poo as long as you're not talking about crap (and gently caress in PG-13 if it's not about sex) but I've never seen it shown so elegantly.

I'm kind of surprised that they censored it this late at night. I remember CC aired the red band trailer for Kingsman after the Daily Show rerun for a while and didn't even bother to edit out "gently caress."

The censoring on China, Il on Adult Swim has also been inconsistent as hell.

God drat, YES! That was awesome. The only real problem was that having waiting so long I was already spoiled on some of the surprises and twists that were kind of impossible to ignore just from like movie trailers or upcoming films (like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch or the Stephen Strange name drop). But it was still a really awesome movie and probably my favorite of the Franchise. And even with it being a great espionage/action movie all on its own it did so much for the franchise including making me wish they'd give Black Widow a solo piece since I thought Johansson really took a major leap forward in this one in making her a really interesting character.

And definitely getting me more hyped to jump back into SHIELD and see how the hell that show deals with the fallout of the movie or where the Universe goes with Avengers 2 still to come (I assume by its very nature Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty distanced from this stuff besides the Infinity Gems arch).

The order I'm currently going with is:

AOS S1E1-7
Thor 2
AOS S1E8-16
Cap 2

Thor didn't dramatically change AOS but they do react to the events of the movie and I thought there were some more subtle changes to the series with a couple of episodes about Asgard characters and more of the Shield characters seen through the movies and One Shots. Not sure how AOS reacts to Cap 2 since I'm about to jump in now but in theory the fallout should be massive. I mean, from the epilogue of Cap 2 SHIELD doesn't even seem to exist anymore so that sure throws a wrench into the show's formula in theory. I guess AOS could ignore it but considering a lot of the stories on AOS leading into Cap 2 actually seem to play into the movie perfectly it sure seems coordinated.

I realize I'm discussing a year old TV show like its new as well as a bunch of movies that aren't really on topic in TVIV, so sorry. Just really into this whole SHIELD/Phase 2 binge.

In case anyone was wondering where the Adult Swin/Toonami thread was, the mod of the anime forum has requested it be moved there so I let him have it. If there are any non anime shows that were discussed in there you're free to make another thread for them. But any discussions involving the anime shows need to go there.

I never saw the need (when I started the last two of them) because no one ever talked about the few comedy shows that didn't get spun off into their own threads (like Venture Bros.). I mean, I tried to foster discussion, but it never really worked, I suppose just because AS lumps all their anime on one night and staggers out all their other new content throughout the week which makes it hard to keep a discussion going. I dunno, maybe it was a chicken-and-egg thing: no one talks about other shows, so they don't get their own thread, so no one talks about the other shows, etc.

Yeah the biggest issue was that it was kind of difficult to maintain a discussion of the non anime stuff when it was 15 minutes at a time versus the multiple hour anime block. Also I don't know about anyone else but everything else aired too late for me to stay up and watch live, except for the stuff on Saturday.

I like the show quite a bit. It's a great mix of sword fights, drama, political intrigue, and romance. But my mom hasn't read the books, so I can't really help you with that other problem.

Eh, not really. I mean, technically she has a super power, in that she's a WWII battlefield nurse in the 1740s, so she has medical knowledge that's akin to magic to everyone she meets (they call her a healer). So that's, in a way, addressing time travel every time she knows someone is poisoned and not, say, possessed by a demon. The knowledge of what actually happens in the future of Scotland doesn't really help much, because no one would even believe her if she told them. It's mostly, as you said, a period piece where the lead is super nurse.
