Fried Chicken posted:That's my point? The "they are dropping standards for women" is bullshit, they change standards for everyone, it has nothing to do with women. Who said they were dropping standards for women? They haven't changed standards for the infantry course, either. The argument is about women in combat roles, which have higher standards and more rigorous physical training than the rest of the military. The Marines have been letting women who meet the standards of course admission enroll in the course and so far none have graduated because they can't keep up the grueling physical requirements of the course.

There was a big ta-do a few years back when it came out that half of the female marines couldn't do the three-pullup minimum required of all marines. A lot of people pointed out that pullups are something women have to train for, but a couple of months of moderate strength training are about all it takes. If women aren't already getting that as part of their marine training then it brings into question how necessary it is; how important are pullups to what a marine is ultimately required to do?

Congress has numerous unhealthy ties to corporations and the exemption of politicians from various common-sense financial regulations is indicative of the rampant corruption inherent in the current system. A grass-roots socialism cartoon.

Not since midiclorians has anyone expressed a greater misunderstanding of the "Force" concept. And "Baruke Skywalker" is terrible wordplay, just terrible. Like, "Baquack Obamailures" terrible.

Fried Chicken posted:It would be a lot easier to take the physical fitness standards position seriously if we weren't also dropping them for everyone because the up and coming generation in general can't meet them. Between childhood obesity and a sedentary lifestyle people just can't meet the minimum, so we are dropping them for all forces across the board, male and female. Thank you Kelly. In reality, American kids actually get the third most excercise among the OCED nations, and have held steady in the amount of excercise being done since the ending of agricultural life as the default. But please tell us how this LATEST GIZMO, in contrast to all others, is actually brainwashing kids into being lazy. Its diet and nothing else.

That reminds me, here's an actual thing a Saudi student said to me today when we were discussing the deal: "I think they're going to get stronger and cause trouble for my country, and we didn't do anything to them! All we did was give Saddam a bunch of money and tell him to kick the poo poo out of them!" Man, I love my job.

Hillary as the Terminator means she will engage in a fight against her own interest for the salvation of all human kind, ending with a final act of self-sacrifice born from the empathy and compassion she learned from the humans she was programmed to protect. She also rocks some sweet shades and blowing poo poo up a lot. Shut up and take my ballot, that sounds like an awesome president. Conservatives are just bad at picking pop-culture allegories. Like that Holbert. When Stars Wars is on everyone's mind because a trailer that prompts this kind of response: putting Barack Obama in a Skywalker outfit is a positive association.
