I'm glad he's making Punchline because it might actually be more enjoyable than VLR.

There's a part in Virtue's Last Reward where the old guy rates a bikini anime girl poster and then takes it to add to his collection. Also I have to say that Punch Line certainly fits with his sense of humor, which seems to be having characters do things he finds relatively silly and amusing. Yeah, these games are good, though VLR is considerably less good since it was written to just set up another game. One that might not even happen.

The characters in VLR mostly suck, and that is its greatest (maybe only) fault. Because of that, I still prefer 999. Punchline is good and I'm excited for episode 3.

Blhue posted:So is this show actually funny stupid or just stupid? It's either unfunny stupid or actually secretly clever. It remains to be seen which. The writer's humour really doesn't connect with me, but his games have generally worked effectively on the principle of "outlandish rules applied in an interesting and consistent way".

Oh boy AI and healing factors? How Ever17... Some speculation: 1. Hmm, I wonder if the cat-porn video is alluding to something about the cat-ghost. For our hero, his... ability seems to be even triggered by photographs and videos. However the cat ghost can watch his animal equivalent of full sex videos without ill effect. Which either means Yuta's behaviour is unique to him, in which case it's odd that the cat knew about it, or the cat is hiding something. 2. Maybe the meteor is something that happens *anyway*. Which makes the Yuta-effect not a matter of summoning a meteor to destroy the world, but of traveling forwards in time and then coming back again. Which maybe also explains how the professor dude knew that Strange Juice would arrive at the dorm way in the future. 3. Meika being able to launch all the nukes in the world is clearly a Chekov's gun.
|
# ? Apr 23, 2015 21:43 |
If Yuta gets power-charged from being aroused, shouldn't he be able to do more stuff in that state? Maybe it's even let him "discharge" faster.

What I'm getting from this is that the writer is physically incapable of writing a story that isn't about characters trapped in an enclosed space. They aren't explicitly trapped this time, but they might as well be considering how everything takes place in the same building.

Zero 1 being a bear-napper was a pretty fun cameo. Also pretty sure Spandex guy is tied to the protagonist and time travel stuff.

I'm pretty sure Spandex guy IS the Protagonist, and his power up was looking at panties. Also "If she wanted to, she could even launch every nuke in the world." Well this certainly won't be plot relevant anytime soon.
