Wall mounted my TV since it was a lot cheaper and easier than finding a tv stand that wasn't ugly garbage. Now I need to figure out what to get or build to hold my receiver and center channel. Probably build since I can't find anything that is the right dimensions and the few things I've found that are almost close enough are expensive garbage.

Speaking of TV's, moved into my new house and unpacked my new 65" God damnit. I knew I should have opened it before the freight guy left when I saw the box was looking a little haggard.

If I juuuuuuuuuuuuuuust didn't hang new dry wall and such in this room, I wouldn't be opposed to just mounting it directly to the wall. Previous apartment had two external brick walls as the walls in the TV room where you'd want a TV to mount; got something similar to this and parked a credenza over the base. Mine is black and didn't come with wheels like that, though; that was just the cheapest one I could find on amazon at the moment. That way, you can make the base cabinet look as traditional or vintage as you want, because you get to pick it yourself. Surely you can come to an accommodation with your spouse that way.

Goddamn I'm glad to be back at the Hut. 4 1/2 hours, $52 in tips. Opening tomorrow and working until 4, I should make about the same. I already know what my final check from Jet's will be - not much ($251), I'll have to abuse the 15 day grace period on my car loan again, but it'll be enough to get Verizon and my car insurance to get off my back for a bit. Tide posted:That's what I'm going to do. Wall mount and other goodies on order. Shopping for a nice base to put my receiver and such in. No experience with the transmitters, but I'd really suggest getting a recessed power outlet to stick behind the TV, and run all the other wires (which, if you're using a receiver, should be just a single HDMI cable and some speaker wires) through the wall. I'm getting ready to do all of that, I'll be sticking a wall plate behind my desk with an HDMI jack and L/R/center speaker connectors. So much neater. My subwoofer just sits under the bed, though my mancave is also my bedroom. meatpimp posted:I've never used Roku, but heard good things about them. I've owned a Sony Bluray player before, and currently have a Roku 1 (current gen, I think). The Roku has a lot more options, but the Sony was a bit easier to use out of the box. The Roku can stream from my Plex server, which is what really counts around here. The Sony could, but truncated filenames, and was super picky about video formats.

If it's not one thing breaking, it's another. Ice maker (under cabinet GE Monogram) is down again. It gets plenty cold, it makes plenty of sheets of ice, but the cutting grid isn't getting power - so the sheets pile up on top of each other until one can't release, then all the water pours out and I wake up to the gurgling of a starving water pump. When I left today it was completely full of ice; thanks to all the water pouring out between cycles, it has about 3 cups of ice in it, and it keeps shutting itself down because there's too much water in the ice basin (it has a float in the drain that shuts it down completely and runs the drain pump nonstop until the water level is low enough). Found a broken wire on the grid, I'm REALLY hoping I can fix it myself. If not, I get to track down a grid for a 15 year old ice maker. Thankfully one that wasn't changed much over the years and is actually still in production with minor changes. Or I figure out what kind of wire it uses and re-wire the grid myself (I don't want to do that). It needs a good teardown and cleaning anyway, there's a bit of mold growing in the back. Thankfully it's a very serviceable machine, with full schematics and teardown diagrams easily available, and parts are still available. e: lesson learned from T-Mobile, never use their phone support, always hit them up on Twitter. They've sent some kind of update to my SIM card, which rebooted my phone (now it's stuck on the good old "Android is optimizing app 1 of 100005042504390" bit), and said if that doesn't get texting working again, they'll send a new SIM card. Their social media support is (mostly) US based, while prepaid account support is mostly based in India. Nothing against overseas support, but I definitely got the brush off last time I talked to them. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 08:04 on Apr 23, 2015 |

God I hate TV stands. But I rent, so I don't exactly want to make holes in his walls. The dining room is already hosed up enough from the ping pong table. I did all the AV for my cousin's new condo recently. The new Comcast Xfinity boxes use RF so I mounted all the cable boxes in their basement. Trying to convince my pops to install in-wall speakers and a wall-mount with his next TV purchase.

Sumitomo HTR ZIII? They're the cheapest max performance summer tire in most sizes on tire rack, I've had them on both my nice cars for the last couple years and I've liked them. There are better tires, but I don't think you can beat them for the price.

My beemer calls for that size (I think) on one axle for the summer wheels, and it's the weirdest, narrowest selection. Go to 225 (if feasible) and your selection will likely multiply.

Come on dude, patching drywall is even easier than hanging drywall. I had 4" square holes in my drywall when I moved in, and with that spray texture from home depot you can't find the patches at all unless you hold a flashlight against the wall to show where there's a slight lump. Just mount it the right way, you'll never look at that patch of drywall again, because there will be a TV in front of it.

This was a known issue and you're likely hosed - the problem is the connector on the main board for the SIM/SD tray doesn't make a good connection. You could try gluing a small piece of an old credit card on top of the ribbon cable to try to add more pressure to keep it seated but this just delayed the inevitable when it happened to my wife's phone.

Later on I retried it with a slower SD card and it stopped flipping out. I'm actually considering swapping back to that phone again solely because I keep missing calls on the Motorola because I either don't hear them or ??? happens when I try to answer and the call drops out. Also for some reason it loses signal in my pocket.
