The Taurus didn't offer much for drivers craving the sport sedan experience. That changed with the 1989 debut of the Ford Taurus SHO (for Super High Output), a Q-ship of the finest order that offered up a high-revving Yamaha-designed V-6 engine and a tight sport suspension.

I've been to El Salvador a few years ago. Downtown San Salvador was a huge black market straight out of Hollywood (black guys with AKs, stolen goods, places where you can find literally anything). Not to mention the constant Mara threat! I've never seen so many armed people in my entire life.

Fantino is an Argentinean journalist that interviews political figures on TV. Yesterday we had elections at the capital (Buenos Aires), and some days ago the "veda" started (it's a short time period before election day in which there can't be any kind of political propaganda in the media).

The tweet comes from a politician which i don't really know, pleading for Fantino to invite her to an interview before the "veda" starts.

Exactly. He has been interviewing politicians during these last years. He sucks at it, but he does get to interview some interesting people, like Martin Lousteau.

Speaking of Martin Lousteau, can someone explain to me what's going on with ECO/UNEN/FAP/CC? It seems like every month Carrió is doing something crazy.

Carrió is a weird creature indeed. On the one hand, she has been denouncing a myriad of irregularities during the current government, and she herself is pretty much pristine as far as corruption cases go. On the other hand, she as a person is extremely visceral, she lacks charisma and has a terrible history of failing one election after the other. In my personal opinion, desperation has lead her to siding with Mauricio Macri (from the PRO party), who represents many of the things she was actually against.

She was with Lousteau in UNEN before, but had a fight with other leaders from the UNEN coalition. The most known anecdote was one in which she left in the middle of a speech given by one of her peers, Pino Solanas. This ended up in the dissolution of the original UNEN.

UNEN still exists, Binner and Solanas are still working together, and for them to work with Macri would be political suicide. Macri is pretty much a populist-conservative, a 21st century Carlos Menem. Binner, and even more Solanas, are completely opposed to that political current.

This reminds me, RIP the UCR (Union Civica Radical). The originally were the first proper political party, opposing the corrupt elites that conducted fraudulent elections. They did so both through intransigence (refusing to participate in the elections) and violence. They were the first party to have a turn at governing after the last military regime, and Alfonsín did more or less well. Now they are allied with PRO/Macri. How the mighty have fallen...

I don't think there is a candidate that is less garbage than the current president. So, zero.

On the next city elections in july (or June, can't remember) we'll apparently change to electronic voting. That is going to be such a clusterfuck.

Doesn't Macri also claim to be a peronist and isn't Massa just one of the classic "dissidents" who claim to have pretty big differences with the government to keep people voting inside the party? So the three front runners are pretty much the same.

Not this election. Main choices are Scioli (peronism = populism), Massa (peronism again) and Macri (conservative populism).

Maybe next election, in 5 years, if Lousteau takes a shot at it... we could have an actual human being in there.

I don't follow. The guy has pretty much diagnosed our social and economical problems to perfection over and over again. Besides, his plans are not like his rival's. The Kirchner's are outright thieves, and Macri is Menem's revival. Lousteau was actually brought into government under the idea that he would launch a project to create a proper welfare state, after all, he studied at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He resigned from his position as minister of economy after seeing that his ideas were far different from what Fernandez's government was really seeking.

Not only that, but he is the only one proposing to put a stop on the abuse of political propaganda, and he is amazingly diplomatic. Have you heard him at Fantino's?

Also sorry to double post but I'm on my phone. Lousteau (just like Carrio) won't amount to much. Even when she was the only viable opposition candidate and got a fair amount of other parties to go vote her for the position of president, she still put on a poor showing, and an even worse one for deputies. They have very little footprint outside of the Gran Buenos Aires, and that will always stop them. Lousteau and company, precisely because they are so opposed to clientelist politics, are completely unable to challenge the fuedal bastions in the provinces or make inroads into peronist strongholds like La Matanza.
