Well that's literally the first time he ever made a movie. I'm thinking more https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4xMMSlKbAY or the Pierce documentary episode.

I loved this episode. I love this season. I love Community. The highlights this season for me have been the prisoner episode, the dean in the VR helmet, the Honda episode, and the laser bomb. Also, I took the frisbees being tied together as something the study group did while building their "set" rather than some cheap prop that the Community production crew made that we weren't supposed to notice.

Actors pretending to be bad at acting in a shoot within a tv show or movie just isn't funny.* It's tedious. It's bad. Movies and television need to retire that trope ASAP. Not a great episode. *Unless it's Jack Donaghy trying to figure out how to walk.

Not a great episode. I feel similarly. I have trouble with the lethal weapon 5 episodes of always sunny because of this. Maybe it's because I've been in improv classes before and it makes me feel cringe-y when people are trying to be funny without a script. Scripted scriptlessness and rehearsed awkwardness are even worse. I laughed like crazy at the green three for some reason though. And the rest of the season is strong so I can forgive something not hitting me the right way.

Simon Pegg had a pretty good section in his interview on Conan a while back talking about acting drunk well. Like the slow, incomplete blinking and unnecessarily holding your breath. The subtle "hold it together!" rather than the 1950s Hays-Code-era style "I'm totally fitshaced!" shtick that you instantly disbelieve and takes you out of the moment.

Yeah, I've been taught that the key to acting drunk is trying really really hard to act sober.

The only other nice thing I'll say is it wasn't 100% predictable, I thought Chang's undoing would've been bad publicity from the Greendale movie.

If people would just say "Wasn't feeling it this week!", whatever. But people are way overanalyzing a sitcom they're watching for free and treating every episode like the show is on life support and needs to be out down. Just enjoy a thing.

Thought the episode was pretty decent. Definitely one I'll forget in time, but nothing bad. Which hey, if the show can keep doing, good on it. Gotta give props to the writers for the two new characters. They've been consistently well written for, and bounce off the regular cast surprisingly well for people who've only been around such a short time. While in real life criticizing a thing all the time will make you pretty unpopular in your group, ya can't really complain about folks for doing it in a place specifically designed to be an opinion dump. Even if they're using over-emotive wordings to make their opinion be more grandiose.

Reading constructive criticism (and even angry rants that had a point) in TVIV has helped me enjoy TV shows better. I may not always agree with people's opinions, but actively engaging with the show rather than turning your brain off is a much better experience, and there is nothing wrong with having expectations from the shows you love. Posting about how you hated an episode on the Internet is not necessarily an act of defiance against free entertainment or contempt for people who liked it, it's part of being critical of the entertainment you consume. Or maybe Community sucks now, I don't know, whatever. The fake-acting parts sucked, the episode was kinda ok, will tune in next week anyway because not every episode has to be peak Community.

I enjoyed the episode, but for some reason I'm blanking on what people are talking about when they mention the "green three". Magnitude (getting Pop! Pop!ed) in a lovely carrot costume still makes me chuckle every time I think about it. Edit: OH MY GOD the mysterious green three! Yeah, that was a "pause the video to recover from laughing" moment for me. Adding Keith David to the show is seriously my favorite casting decision this show has ever made. a crisp refreshing Moxie fucked around with this message at 17:13 on May 1, 2015 |

Let's come up with the most outlandish reasons for it that we can think of. The green three is a commentary of the over-reliance of CGI in movie and TV production. The ball is green so they can easily change it to any color they want even though there's only one "correct" color that it should ever be!
