Olivil posted:as in only the negative voltage parts are outputted? No, as in suddenly channel 2 sends out an inverted output. It's the correct voltage, just negative. The multiplier is correct (I recalibrated the whole module just to be sure), it's just negative. If I send a negative voltage from the Silent Way DC plugin, it goes positive. Strangest thing.

you can see my edit on my last post, but i got the issue wrong, i think it still applies though just to be sure we're talking about a Korg ES-1? mk1 or mk2? if you have a scope, looking to the block diagram in the service manual i linked earlier, I would start from the output and go back in the signal chain block by block to see where in the chain is the problem

ok well following this schematic and this layout if you input negative, get positive, and vice versa, it isn't a supply problem and it pretty much has to be an op amp that's inverting. is the signal coming in the output amp the good (non-inverting) polarity? The amp input signal for channel 2 is on pin 2 of IC7 What are you reading on pin 3 of IC7? Is it the same as pin 3 of IC6? It should be

I use and recommend VAZplus, it's been some guy's hobby software for ages. Not good for live performing since it has latency problems. been using it forever though my dad bought a license key in like 1996

Olivil posted:ok well following this schematic and this layout 1) I appreciate you jumping in to assist. 2) I pretty much narrowed it down to something going wrong with IC6. Os from Expert Sleepers confirmed that was likely the issue. 3) Hilariously, my DMM literally fell apart last night while working on this, so I can't give you readings (there is no IC7 though...). I'm just going to grab a new TL084.

i caught a bit of nostalgia today... revisiting my earliest software synth experiences GB-303 (sadly, no picture)—HARDCORE UNDERGROUND ACID. a 1995 dos tb-303 emulator that looked basically like this place: green ascii on black. super bad interface, slightly weird sound, but man! a synthesizer!!! AXS—oh i loved this one. it ran in DOS, had a tracker built in and sounded pretty awesome, especially for the time. it was a BITCH to find, i must have spent months looking. mind you, this was way before i had anything like the www. Best thing about it was that it LOOKED the part of the cool synth DreamStation—This was a huge leap forward when it came out, it was buttery smooth compared to the oftentimes harsh stuff that was out there. Extreeemely plasticcy filters, loved it. Also had a built-in tracker, but ran under Windows VAZ—all I remember about this is that the filters were WAY too resonant and everything that came out of it was shrill and grating and had terrible dynamics Orangeator—I remember this was a bitch to play realtime. My computer was seriously underpowered and the synth didn't take prisoners. Very versatile. I think they later made a modular version RubberDuck—probably the harshest of all the early synths that I tried. it SAID it was a 303 emu, but that's really not what this was. tweeter-blowing treble and, like vaz, a stupidly strong resonance in the filters. ReBirth RB-338—this to me marks the end of the era of "early" pc soft synths. this was a polished program that would define (lovely) interface paradigms for the following, hell, decades probably, and it sounded impressive too. the 303/808/909 emulations were the most accurate anyone had ever heard. i lost interest in it quickly cause that poo poo is for chumps.

I was like GIVE ME THE RUBBERDUCK GIVE IT TO MEEEE and orangeator yeah I used to open up punk shows in hot springs around '96 by literally putting my p166 on stage with a crt, sitting cross legged and doing weird poo poo with rubberduck Dreamstation was really good too and your post basically triggered the f out of me. good
